I had planned to go see "Hilary & Jackie" at the Chelsea theater Saturday
afternoon, but were woken up a bit early and therefore was left with a big
chunk of time till the first matinee. Suddenly I realized I had not talked to
Jesse in a while, so I figured the least I could do was call'm and try and harass
him into seeing the movie, if he wasn't busy. Oh. He wasn't. After a bit of 'well
we could.. or.. or maybe..", it was decided that he would pick me up, take me to
one of his friends houses, and have him play a bit on his didjeridoo in her silo (she
lives on a farm), and then perhaps, watch some odd rented movie.
Skulked about the livingroom for a bit. Played some music, very loud. Tried out some
new glitter I bought (green tinted, very vague and ethereal make up effect). Sharpened
my black eye liner and made plenty of use of it. Watched some taped PJ Harvey. In fact,
when he arrived, I decided to have some fun, and showed him PJ performing an eery
song called "Taut". Oh, how I love to see the horror on peoples faces when they are
presented with a spastic Polly with wild eyes, letting out a haunting, possessed "JEeeeeeeEesuuus...
save meee..." FunFun.
As he thought he had less time than expected, he agreed to take me shopping instead of
renting a movie. I was in dire need ot groceries. I finally caved in and got a VIC card,
and saved $6.77. Not chicken shit for a poor girl. And then off we went (he forgot himself,
actually, and drove to his place first instead of Melanie's. heh.).
Wow. She really, really lives on a small farm. I walked in mud tracks of a tractor. I said hello
to cows. I climbed into an old silo that used to hold grain or something. I was treated to a
nice concert by Jesse (I have troubles remembering that I got to know him before he learnt how
to play the instrument - he's *good*). Trudged back through mud. Ate Melanies home made
chocolate cookies. Got to know her cats. Helped her dress for some Wiccan ritual. Went to Jesse's
place, where we listened to plenty of radio, and looked at old vinyl LP's. He treated me to
some strange dish he invented himself - rice, salt, some kind of yeast, and sesame oil. Not bad,
especially not with apple cider :)
After hours of listening to the radio, we decided we wanted to request something. We decided on a song,
Jesse called the college station, and woom... 5 minutes later "Jamaica farewell" with Harry Belafonte
was playing. Now that, IMHO, was very cool - I have never requested anything before, nor heard someone
I knows request either :)
By 10 something, I was driven home, and at 11, I taped a wonderful live concert off of PBS with Tori.
I must say I enjoyed this day. If nothing else - I've missed seeing cows, and Tori slinging out a "honey!"
with an Elvis face was priceless.
And that was that. Yes.
