sunday, may 9
The condensed version that will at least briefly log everything from yesterday (saturday) morning till now, midnight sunday evening in... England. Hah. :)
Saturday, May 8, 7.30 am
Woke up. Packed. Done at 8.10 am.
Called my uncle and got my cousin on the phone - I haven't seen/spoken to her since she was 12. It was her 12'th birthday. I felt very old and ancient.
Watched infomerials until 9 am.
Showered. Managed to distribute fuschia pink manic panic hairdye in my hair without any major stains on my face/bathroom. Let it sit for an hour.
Rinsed my hair in the kitchen sink.
Made my dishes.
Cleaned (meaning scrubbed and mopped and everything) the bathroom.
11.50 am - called Angela for a brief goodbye. Going to miss her.
noon - called my mom and then my dad to say 'bye from America.' - Joseph shows up and drives me to Charlotte from Chapel Hill.
Reach Charlotte Airport at 3 pm so we left and drove out and to a gas station where I bought Dorito chips and poptarts/candy and stuffed into my suitcases. Joseph dropped me off at airport at 3.30 pm.
Checked in my bags and wandered about inside the airport. Bought a book (serial killer themed "The Alienist")
Waited to board my flight - chitchatted with elderly cool couple.
Boarded (well duh) at 5 pm- as I walked into the airplane both flight attendants commented on my hair ('Love the hair' '-Yes, we love that don't we!' - one of them reached out and touched a lock!)
Got window seat by the left wing. Introduced myself to the person next to me - Cathy. Lucky me we soon began chatting and talked most of the flight - it was really nice actually, and because she wa son a diet she donated everything from red wine to cheese cake and chocolate to me.
Flight attendant started talking to me as he was collecting trash and stopped working and just babbled for several minutes - he was totally cool, and eventually was reprimanded a bit by a fellow attendant with 'Darling - hurry up!')
Watched movie - 'A civil action' with John Travolta. 50/50. Slept a bit. Caught half of a Simpsons (the one where Homer climbs a mountain) and then they cut the last half for landing!
Landed at London - Gatwick, 6.50 am (british time - more like 1.50 am in America), picked up my bags and got confused how to reach the south terminal so I asked an elderly man by chance and he actually followed me there (turned out he worked there) instead of just tell me. Totally sweet man.
Waited for Dylan by trains till 9.20 am. Almost went bad. Airports are weird. But then he showed up and we left on a train to Finchley where he lives to drop off my luggage.
Dropped off luggage around noon. Got online a bit. Left w. Dylan to get to Battersea animal shelter to pick out a cat for him.
After several hours of going here and there in London by subway and bus, and after eating a fabulous huge cheap fried noodles dish in south London we reached the shelter 3 minutes before it closed. Blah.
and that's all I'll give you for now. :)
