thursday, may 20I spent all yesterday with Maria. Very cool, considering she's pretty much the only one (it's her and another girl, Anna) left around here that I call friend. I got there around 2 pm and left around midnight. Hah. I'd sum the day up with one word - music. Music overload, almost. It's tough catching up 9 months worth of music with a friend! She played me Bel Canto and Kari Ruessomething and 3rd Mortal (all of them ethereal beautiful female vocals mixed with anything from pagan lyrics to deathmetal guitars. Heh :) Then she showed me videos with Goldie, PJ Harvey, Aphex Twin, Lamb, Björk and I showed her all the PJ Harvey and Tori I taped in America (heh, I never realized I had three full Saturday Night Live episodes taped, though - the one's with Vince Vaughn (and Lauryn Hill), David Spade and Ben Stiller (WITH ALANIS SINGING THANK YOU!!!) And then somehow Maria's tv's stopped working :/ The last 4 hours was spent listening to my tapes (I got her smitten with Cocteau Twins), and she played me one of the most horrid things I have ever heard - apparently there was only a 2000 CD pressing of the album by a Swedish unknown artist called 'Sara' and well... in Maria's own words "It's a pretentious Stina Nordenstam wannabe paired with Kukl. At their worst." - Maria relishes finding these horrid things just to taunt us, her friends with. I still say this Sara chick wasn't even close to as bad as the atonnal finnish deathmetal band she played me last year. And that was that. Ate wonderful potatoes and carrots around midnight that Maria's boyfriend had made and walked over to ym dad's in the next door building. He and I watched a 1997 Jerry Springer show with Klan members (ARGH makes me angry. Stupidasses.) and then he drove me home. Before I could sleep (on the couch in the livingroom since my room got flooded a few months ago) my brother came home and we watched Species II. Gory. The chick is lovely though. Today I'm bitter because I can't see Star Wars yet (not here in Sweden) and because Björk is filming a movie a few hours away here in Sweden and I can't go and friendly stalk gawk. So I'll be home.. calling Jessica and watching The Wings of The Dove. Take care. |
