swimming

we got up early yesterday, me and mom. while i showered, she got the berry-jelly making going. soon we each went our own way to get to the swimming pools across town. she took her bike through the crowded center of our town and i walked through the woods. i nearly fainted seeing the lemon coloured butterflies playing in the overwhelming colour and scent explosions called gardens.

before we headed for the pools we stopped by the flea market. i can't remember when i last saw so much junk sweating in the sun, hoping that somebody would take pity on them and shell out the cents needed to buy it. after 10 minutes i found what was to be my only purchase - a torn, yellowing copy of "the world according to garp" by john irving. sure, i've read it before, but the movie was on telly last weekend and i just had to read it again. you know how it is.

soon we began to walk towards the swimming pools. at least, i assumed they were swimming pools - to me it merely looked like a massive amount of people in too little clothes squishing around with what could have been water, but i'm still not sure.

it took me twenty minutes to get over the anxiety of getting inside the gates to be stared at by so many people, but eventually i did. and it was wonderful. so there you have it. i have wallowed in water outdoors this years. yey.

shopping

i was supposed to go with my mom, aunt and cousin to take my granny to the eye doctor. after that we ended up.. shopping.

after each store i seemed to shed an item. there went the shoes in favour of a light pair of red and black sandals. there went the large black pants in favour of pale blue shorts. a new pair of hair clips holding my now soggy yellow gold hair back. a pair of socks with frogs on them. a new lip stick.

and i almost, said, i almost have a tan. i know it's in there underneath this soggy white skin. honest.
