the rise and fall of bit.ch

last friday i was so itching to get my own domain name and i couldn't put my finger on why i was obsessing about it all of a sudden because i've wanted one since 1995 but can never afford one and usually i'm fine with that, but friday, i just couldn't stop thinking about it.

the stupid thing is, i can't even think of a domain name i'm 100% i want forever and ever or at least a few years. i was whining and tossing out ideas to dylan and all of a sudden he goes "you could get www.bit.ch!" and my brain got really swollen and i really really wanted it so he and i spent about 2 hours looking at how much it would cost to register it and i was looking for a webhost to connect with the name and i really really wanted it, and just as i was about to give in i checked again and.. the name was already registered, it was just not being used yet.

[insert sound of air escaping great big balloon head]

i even e-mailed the guy who had registered it, asking if there was any chance he would part with it. he said no (duh) and i'm sorry, he was really polite but i really think it's more fair for a girl to have bit.ch than a guy call me sexist so i'm growing all bitter about it now. ah well. i tried. and he -was- nice. but still. poof.
