Minutes From June 21, 2001 Business Meeting

The June 21, 2001 meeting of Altrusa International of Montgomery was held at the Capital City Club. Eight members were present. The program for the evening was the installation of new officers, conducted by Melinda Walton, chairman of Altrusa Information Committee.

Business Meeting:

The meeting was conducted by Joyce Cobb, Immediate Past President. The minutes of the May meeting were approved as written. Linda Haigler, Treasurer, presented the financial report. As of June 20, 2001, the balance in the General Operating Budget was $710.30. The Special Projects Fund had a balance of $3,011.66.

Pat Morgan reported on plans for the graduation ceremony for the C.I.T.Y. program to be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at the First Baptist Church of Greater Washington Park. Altrusa will sponsor the graduation reception again this year. A sign-up sheet was passed around for volunteers to bring food and to help with the set-up. Members not present will be contacted, or should telephone Pat to make their commitment. Small gifts are also needed. It was suggested that these could be brought to the July meeting. They should be gift-wrapped.

Pat also requested that Altrusa members contact the Governor and the State Finance Director to encourage their support of the C.I.T.Y. Program. The budget has been reduced by 11%, and the staff are trying to get more funding.

New Business:

Joyce Cobb announced that the Telephone Committee will be Nell Sellers and Patsy Patton.

Patsy Patton recommended that the club submit Grace Boozer's name to the district board for emeritus status. She joined the Altrusa in 1958, and has been a faithful member for 43 years.

The meeting was adjourned, since there was no further business.
