Minutes From June 20, 2002 Meeting

Altrusa International, Inc. of Montgomery, Alabama met on June 20, 2002 at the Capital City Club with 18 members present. President Kathy Alred called the meeting to order.

Joyce Cobb read the minutes from the May meeting and they were approved as read.

Kathy Alred presented the Lifetime Achievement Award from District Four to Pat Morgan. The Success By Six project received the Leitha H. Brown Award at District Four Conference. Grace Boozer received the Emeritus award from District Four. The next conference will be held the last weekend in April 2003 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Linda Haigler gave the Treasurer's report as of June 20, 2002, reflecting $484.99 in the General Operating Fund of $484.00 and $2,139.66 in the Service Project Fund.

There was a discussion regarding the $500.00 donation to C.A.R.C. program with the Voluntary Action Center that was passed at the May meeting. Suzanne Marshall made a motion to increase the donation to $1,000.00. Pat Morgan seconded the motion and it unanimously carried. Doci Haslam gave the members more information on the program.

Pat Morgan announced the C.I.T.Y. graduation would be July 25th. Ashley Thomas made a motion for the Club to pay $150.00 for expenses toward the C.I.T.Y. Graduation. The motion was seconded by Doci Haslam and unanimously carried. Pat Morgan passed around a sign up sheet for members to furnish items for the graduation. The Community Service Committee will handle the event.

Kay Miller made a motion to increase the CALL donation to $200.00 for the year. The motion was seconded by Suzanne Marshall and unanimously carried. It was suggested that members bring a gift for the Sunshine Center. Amy Creel suggested that members get together outside the meeting and work on the scrapbook.

Mollie Kemp, Pat Morgan and Chris Beaird will be a committee to develop guidelines for how large funds will be spent.

Nell Sellers made a motion for the President to join the Presidents Council. It was seconded by Doci Haslam and unanimously carried.

Melinda Walton installed the officers for the 2002/2003 club year. The rest of the meeting was a planning session, which will be outlined in the newsletter by Kathy Alred.

The July meeting will be in the home of Nell Sellers and will be a baby shower for Amy Daniel and Ashley Thomas.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
