What It Means to Be Adopted

Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a picture of a family. One little boy in the picture had a different color hair than the other family members. One child suggested that he was adopted and a little girl said, "I know all about adoptions because I was adopted." "What does it mean to be adopted?" asked another child. "It means," said the girl, "that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy."

(An excerpt from the "Reconciliation", the news and prayer letter of the Baptist Bible College of Indianapolis.)

Pastor Frank E Stone, Jr. joined BBCI in April of 1997, and like many others at the college, he wore several hats during his employment here. He was director of student services, part-time professor and the coordinator of BBCI's camp ministry for inner city youth. He is a former twenty-nine year employee of Eli Lilly & Company.

Mare, Pastor Stone's wife, is also a graduate of BBCI, class of 1997, with an Associate of Religious Education degree. The Stones were actively involved in the community for years, developing and teaching Bible Studies, and marriage seminars. They are former members of North Baptist Church of Indianapolis, where Frank ministered with Pastor Bruce Burns as the co-pastor. They have a fourteen year old son, Frank Stone, III, who will be entering the 9th grade this year.

"Frank is an excellent teacher in the classroom. Many were sad about his leaving. He is a team player, a good listener, and a great motivator. New Covenant Bible Church (of Birmingham, Alabama) has received a wonderful blessing," says Janie Williams, vice president of development.

He served as mentor, friend, and counselor to BBCI students as well as to various churches throughout Indianapolis. Many accolades and compliments were shared with Pastor Stone and Mare at a farewell service and reception held on June 6, 1999, at North Baptist Church.

Pastor Stone, Mare, and Frank III will be missed, and we wish them God's blessings as they start a new journey in a new city.
