For those of you looking to help our fundraising effort payoff, we've come up with a relatively simple way for you to make a difference: Raffle Prizes.

The idea is founded on the premise that there are tons of companies or businesses who have goods or services that they will gladly donate to our cause for just a little promotion of their firm. These companies have a vested interest in providing their products to non-profit organizations because it gives their company a tax deduction, spreads good will and promotes their company all at the same time.

What we have in mind is harnessing your talents and contacts to reach out to these companies, request goods or services to be donated to the NTAF Gabrielle Santiago Kidney Transplant Fund as "gifts -in-kind". In order to contact a prospective contributor, you will need the following 4 documents:

1) Prize Letter: A cover letter to solicit contributions in Word 97 format (Requires you to enter your name, phone number date, etc)Prize Letter

2) Validation Letter: A letter of validation that can be provided to firms that proves our efforts are legitimate. Use it with all solicitations.Validation Letter

3) Gift-in-Kind Form: A form that they hold on to when making a gift-in-kind contribution for their records come tax time. Send a second copy of this form to Chris Wilson, 183 Litchfield Ave, Elmont, NY 11003 and I will send it to NTAF for NTAF's records. This form is to only be used for non-monetary gifts. If firms simply want to make a financial contribution. that's fine too. (See our contributions page for further details). Gift-in-kind Form

Suggestions When Contacting Prospective Contributors

1.My first suggestion is that if you call, you ask to speak with someone in the Corporate Communications or Public Relations department to make your inquiry. People in these departments will probably know who in their organization is the right person to contact regarding charitable contributions and product donations. Most of the phone numbers here are the generic toll free (where available) number. Have them transfer you to the correct person and be sure to get their name, phone and fax number for your reference.

We hope to raffle the prizes you receive in our September 15 Golf Outing to benefit the Gabrielle Santiago Fund or at future events to be held in the fall. Please have all prizes mailed to Chris Wilson, 183 Litchfield Ave,Elmont, NY 11003.

2.Please notify the firm you contact that we have available to send to them via fax or email:

A cover letter requesting a gift in kind contribution/or financial contribution if desired

3.Advise them that we are a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization due to our relationship with the NTAF National Transplant Assistance Fund. Any gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

4.As far as quantities, we'll take as much as they are willing to give. If they can supply a relatively inexpensive item so that each golfer will receive a gift, we would need approximately 225 pieces. Certainly on more expensive items, getting one of anything would be appreciated. We're looking for apparel,equipment, gift certificates, discounts, tickets, free stays, rentals, accommodations, etc (we'll refuse nothing) to be used in raffles to benefit the Gabrielle Santiago Kidney Transplant Fund.

5.Please recognize, due to the nature of the request, you may have to make follow-up phone calls to secure the prizes. Also, do not be surprised if you get sent around the company to different folks before reaching the correct party. Please be patient and keep the end goal in mind. You are making a contribution in the time you spend. The more prizes we collect, the more raffles we can hold and the more money we can raise.

Possible Business to Contact for "Gifts-in-kind"

Don't consider your hands tied by this list. If you have contacts at firms who can make a contribution toward the cause, please contact them as well. Just let me know who you are trying to contact so we don't have many people contacting the same companies. IMPORTANT: Don't be limited in thinking that only brick and mortar businesses are your only targets. The Internet is also chock full of businesses that want to spread the same type of good will, so don't overlook these merchants. In many cases, these are among the easiest firms to contact.
