LOVER OF THE BREED OR STUPIDITY?

ORIGIN AND PURPOSE
I started into this adventure almost 2 1/2 years ago. Paul, my husband, and I decided on our perfect breed, SIBERIAN HUSKY. We did 2 months research on the internet before getting our first. Kontessa was a 12 week old chocolate and white with the most wonderful blue eyes, her date of birth Aug 13, 1997 and she started the potato chip syndrome (can't just have one).

We did everything, CKC registration and membership, all shots, check-ups, heartworm preventive, joined a kennel club, ob and conformation. We went to out very first show which was put on by the Limestone Kennel Club, which was our first taste of conformation and we were hooked!

We now have Cinnomi Hurricane of Soulsong, (pedigree on page), whom is now 14 months old, too strong for his own good, lovable ,sweet, smart and funny. Not sure whom is trained, Paul or I or Hurricane. he sits in a chair like a human and stares at our ceiling fan which holds their harness, a hint he wants to go out and play. Or looks under the buffet, then at us, then the buffet again, his tennis ball is there which he out their on purpose I swear!! He is light copper, with amber eyes. Oh yes, Hurricane has the most unusal mask pattern, looks like someone painted binoculars and the put them on his face! His date birth Dec 11, 1998. Also joining our house in April 2000 will be Cinnomi Caramel Candy. She is a light red and white, born Oct 11, 1997, she has an open mask and should be another pleasure to own!

Other than the 4 dogs, 3 are siberians, there is a 7 year old cat, named Zinger, husband already mentioned, and a 14 year old, by the name of Tiffany and a 13 year old, jeremy and a 17 year old, Ashley. When we started into this, we went in with our eyes wide open. But have learned at lot more tham most breeders tell you about, things you can only learn from experience.

If someone gets into it for the money, you have abetter chance of winning the lottery!. Between purchasing decent dogs, vets bills, good food and treats, Eye Cerf, hips x-rayed, showfees, plus let us not forget CKC registrations and papers, you are in the hole approx. $2000.00-$3000.00 for one dog in the first 2 years.

Let us not forget, raising puppies, litter registration, dewclaws(personal choice), microchipped or tattoo's, shots, worm pills, food etc, cost on the average min of $250 per puppy till 8 weeks of age. I have mailed of my Ckc fees for the year and spent another $150.00 for a kennel name. The choices were WindWood, SpiritRun and Soulsong. The winner......Soulsong, so we are now known as SoulSong Reg't kennels... On top of everything else, we do rescue. We have placed 3, and am looking for a home for no 4, Logan .

So all in all, this story is like the title, do I love the breed or is it Stupidity? You decide, as I am sure you have been then and done that!!
