~Weniki's Dancing History~

Welcome to my dance history! My name is Wendy and I am the webmistress of this site. I am 15 years old and go to high school now. You may wondering why I use the name Weniki? Weniki is my Hawaiian name and I thought it would sound cooler than, Wendy. Anyways, here is my picture:

I have been dancing for 6 years now. I attend Michelle's Dance Studio and have been there all 6 years of dancing. I am a class assistant, so that mean I help out a teacher in a few classes. It's really easy and it's fun to teach little kids dance steps. Currently I am taking ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, musical theater (a typing of acting thing but with a lot of dancing), hip hop, and I'm in the Broadway class (which is where we do musical-type productions, lip-synching of course.)

We recently (about a year ago) moved to a new studio. Now Michelle's Studio of Dance has two dance floors, a better snack bar with dancer's lounge, a dancewear boutique, and drive-thru dropoff!! I must say I like it a whole lot better than the old studio. I was afraid at first that I wasn't going to like it, but I love it!! I was sad at first to leave the old studio, but when I saw the new one, I got really excited! We have gotten so much more publicity we might need to expand the building already!! Wow!

If any you have heard of Rhonda Miller, you might be surprised that I worked with her. She works with LA Dance Force and agreed to come do a workshop for our studio. Rhonda did a jazz and tap workshop. Jazz was pretty easy, but tap, oh boy was it hard!! And I'm in the advanced tap too! Still it was a lot of fun, and I hope she'll come up again and do another!

Earlier this year, I considered doing pointe. I checked it out at the Evergreen Ballet Academy. I came so close to doing it, but didn't. I was considering pointe at the same time I got offered to be a class assistant. I decided to go with the class assistant because it was what I had wanted to do for a while. I may decide to try for it again. They would put straight into their advanced class. I have had a little pointe experience in hip hop and tap. Now I feel a little more ready to try pointe.

Finally, I am going to tell you why I dance. I dance because I have always dreamed of being a dancer. When I was 7 and I was supposed to be practicing piano, I would say,"Mom! I'm going outside to do ballet!!" And at the time, I didn't know one ballet step. Now I know several and can't walk into a room without dancing. Dance has become a major part of me and I am not going to let it go. I have tried to think of what it would be like if I ever left Michelle's, and I don't think I'll ever be able to leave. Trust me, if you set your mind to it, you'll be able to do anything!!
