Who is ICDX?
ICDX
Australia's TV, FM, VHF Radio Correspondance
Group
The Power of the Pacific.
ICDX Is an international
correspondance group of Television and FM DXers. The group is not
for profit, and was formed for the purpose of information exchange
between DX enthusiasts.
The origins of ICDX go back to 1971, when Robert Copeman (Sydney) and Anthony Mann (Perth), independently started receiving distant TV signals. Robert contacted Anthony Mann in 1974. Todd Emslie (Sydney) contacted Anthony and Robert in 1979. Wenlock Burton (Melbourne) was contacted in 1980. Several other DXers have joined ICDX since then.
The group has a periodical newsletter
called "Crossfire" which is sent to all ICDX members on
a periodical basis. Although our primary interest is TV and
FM (VHF) broadcasting, we don't reject interested SW/MW dxers.
Many of the the ICDX members are also keen AM/SW dxers.
ICDX works as a loose and
widespread group of DXers from all over the globe linked by
correspondance rather than club meetings, and as a bonus, no club
politics involved! Information on new stations, changes, up and
coming events etc can all be exchanged or shared through the
"Crossfire" newsletter.
Some of our
members are also computer wizards and can help you out with
advice, shareware, etc. Wenlock Burton
is one such computer wiz who designed most of the ICDX pages. Wenlock also provides some of the coding,
writing, and graphics development for the ICDX Web Page.
ICDX
is moderated by Robert Copeman, who is a resident of Melbourne on
the SE coast of Australia. Robert is a keen TV/FM DXer who has
been TV DXing since 1971, when he lived in Sydney. Robert
was keen to provide a worldwide information sharing group for DXers
around the world, and took a big leap in doing so. ICDX is now also on Myspace which is currently maintained by Robert. The Myspace URL is as follows: http://www.myspace.com/icdx_australia and provides an estra resource for this group.
The ICDX pages are currently maintained by Todd Emslie. Todd also writes technical articles for the ICDX magazine. Exotic DX reports are also collected from various ICDX members, which are included on a periodical basis.
