4:30 to Epping.

The fastest train in Melbourne
is the 4:30 to Epping.
Since a fateful day in winter,
Back in 1992.

The train was late at Flinders St.
To run "Express" to Clifton Hill,
So the driver did decide,
To make up for the time.

The passengers had quite a ride,
When he "High Balled" it all the way.
From Flinders Street Station,
Right up to Clifton Hill.

For though 'twas half the journey,
It was done in 5 mins flat!
By roaring down the track,
In a race against the clock.

The controllers would never know,
how it stayed upon the tracks.
But the driver sure must have known,
How to do this awesome feat.

The signalmen never saw,
how fast it came and went.
They certainly felt it's passage,
by the shaking of their cabins.
