Making Gravy

I had a lot of drippings
From a roast I'd just prepared.
"I'll make some nice brown gravy,"
I gleefully declared.

Next I added Water
Till I judged t'would be enough
Then I commenced to make a mix
To thicken up the stuff.

Now, a flour & water mixture
Can be a tricky thing, at best.
It could turn out to be real smooth
Or a lumpy, gooey mess.

Mine turned out to be the latter
I got it much too thick.
So I added some more water.
It should have done the trick.

Well, I guess I over-did it
'Cause it, then, was too thin.
So, then I did what you'd expect.
I put more flour in.

It took me several tries and then,
To me, it looked just right
And the gravy that it finally made
Was, really, "out of sight."

I got my gravy made alright
But now I'm in a fix.
The gravy ended up "Two Cups",
Which left three gallons of the "Mix".
