1 Corinthians 5:7-8
"Purge out therefore the old leaven, that you may be a
new lump, as you are [now] unleavened, for even Christ our
passover is sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep
the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice
and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and
truth".
The passover was a working day in March/April which was a picture of the crucifixion day (it was NOT a holy day) - 1 Corinthians 5:6-8. We are asked to keep the feast, but not in the old way. Let us now LIVE it. [Back to #2].

"The Passover was followed by the seven days' feast of unleavened bread. On the second day of the feast, the first fruits of the year's harvest, a sheaf of barley, was presented before the Lord. All the ceremonies of the feast were types of the work of Christ. The deliverance of Israel from Egypt was an object lesson of redemption, which the Passover was intended to keep in memory. The slain lamb, the unleavened bread, the sheaf of first fruits, represented the Saviour".
The Feast of Unleavened bread was a seven-day period in March/April with two yearly sabbaths on the 1st and 7th days which represent the rest day & the appearance day. The year of the crucifixion the weekly Sabbath and the yearly sabbath fell on the same day and it was known as "an high day".
John 19:31
"The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation,
that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath
day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that
their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken
away".
Luke 23:56
"And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments;
and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment [while Jesus also rested]".
John 20:26-27
"And after eight days again His disciples were within, and
Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and
stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then said He to
Thomas, Reach here your finger, and behold My hands; and reach
here your hand, and thrust it into My side: and be not faithless,
but believing".

1 Corinthians 15:20
"But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the
firstfruits of them that slept". The resurrection was
shown by the wave offering which was made on the second day of
the feast, the 16th day of the month. The offering was made when
the priest "waved" the sheaf of barley over his head so
that all could see it being offered. Sometimes the whole period
was called the 8 days of Passover, but they were actually two
distinctly different occasions. [Back

"These types were fulfilled, not only as to the event, but as to the time. On of the fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which for fifteen long centuries the Passover lamb had been slain, Christ, having eaten the Passover with His disciples, instituted that feast which was to commemorate His own death as "the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." That same night He was taken by wicked hands to be crucified and slain. And as the antitype of the wave sheaf our Lord was raised from the dead on the third day, "the first fruits of them that slept," a sample of all the resurrected just, whose "vile body" shall be changed, and "fashioned like unto His glorious body." Verse 20; Philippians 3:21.

In like manner the types which relate to the second advent must be fulfilled at the time pointed out in the symbolic service. Under the Mosaic system the cleansing of the sanctuary, or the great Day of Atonement, occurred on the tenth day of the seventh Jewish month (Leviticus 16:29-34), when the high priest, having made an atonement for all Israel, and thus removed their sins from the sanctuary, came forth and blessed the people. So it was believed that Christ, our great High Priest, would appear to purify the earth by the destruction of sin and sinners, and to bless His waiting people with immortality. The tenth day of the seventh month, the great Day of Atonement, the time of the cleansing of the sanctuary, which in the year 1844 fell upon the twenty-second of October, was regarded as the time of the Lord's coming. This was in harmony with the proofs already presented that the 2300 days would terminate in the autumn, and the conclusion seemed irresistible. [Back to #2].
This was a one day event some three months later in June/July and was a yearly or ceremonial sabbath representing the day of Pentecost.
Acts 2:1-4
"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were
all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound
from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the
house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them
cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And
they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance". [Back

"The Holy Spirit, assuming the form of tongues of fire, rested upon those assembled. This was an emblem of the gift then bestowed on the disciples, which enabled them to speak with fluency languages with which they had heretofore been unacquainted. The appearance of fire signified the fervent zeal with which the apostles would labor and the power that would attend their work".
These two loaves show the two tongues of fire - enthusiasm and knowledge. They are baked with leaven to show that a sinless state in NOT required for this witness. [Back to #2]

"With trembling, William Miller began to unfold to the people the mysteries of the kingdom of God, carrying his hearers down through the prophecies to the second advent of Christ. With every effort he gained strength. As John the Baptist heralded the first advent of Jesus and prepared the way for His coming, so William Miller and those who joined with him proclaimed the second advent of the Son of God".
The Day of Trumpets was one day in September/October - it was the fourth yearly or ceremonial sabbath - the warning day of Numbers 10:10 and corresponds to the message given by William Miller and the adventists of the day. The trumpets were then blown every day from the 1st to the 10th. i.e. from 1833 to 1843. [Back to #2]
This was also in September/October (Oct 22, 1844) and was the fifth yearly sabbath - a picture of the Judgment day of Daniel 7:9-10.

"This is the great day of preparation, and the solemn work going on in the sanctuary above should be kept constantly before the minds of those employed in our various institutions. Business cares should not be allowed to absorb the mind to such a degree that the work in heaven, which concerns every individual, will be lightly regarded. The solemn scenes of the judgment, the great day of atonement, should be kept before the people, and urged upon their consciences with earnestness and power. The subject of the sanctuary will give us correct views of the importance of the work for this time". [Back to #2]

"The Feast of Tabernacles was not only commemorative but typical. It not only pointed back to the wilderness sojourn, but, as the feast of harvest, it celebrated the ingathering of the fruits of the earth, and pointed forward to the great day of final ingathering, when the Lord of the harvest shall send forth His reapers to gather the tares together in bundles for the fire, and to gather the wheat into His garner".
Five days after the Day of Atonement there were the two final yearly sabbaths (the 6th and 7th) which fell on the first and eighth days of the Feast of Tabernacles.
These are to be the 2nd advent day & the beginning of the new world day.
James 5:7-8
"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the
Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the
earth, and has long patience for it, until he receive the early
and latter rain. Be you also patient; establish your hearts: for
the coming of the Lord draws near".
Revelation 21:1
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first
heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no
more sea". [Back to #2]
Between those days the people of God will be living in leafy tents (temporary homes) during the thousand years in heaven.
ED 042.003
"The Feast of Tabernacles, or harvest festival, with its offerings from orchard and field, its week's encampment in the leafy booths, its social reunions, the sacred memorial service, and the generous hospitality to God's workers, the Levites of the sanctuary, and to His children, the strangers and the poor, uplifted all minds in gratitude to Him who had crowned the year with His goodness, and whose paths dropped fatness".
PP 540.006
"At these yearly assemblies the hearts of old and young would be encouraged in the service of God, while the association of the people from the different quarters of the land would strengthen the ties that bound them to God and to one another. Well would it be for the people of God at the present time to have a Feast of Tabernacles -- a joyous commemoration of the blessings of God to them. As the children of Israel celebrated the deliverance that God had wrought for their fathers, and His miraculous preservation of them during their journeyings from Egypt, so should we gratefully call to mind the various ways He has devised for bringing us out from the world, and from the darkness of error, into the precious light of His grace and truth".
