Our newest family member, Lily, came to us from the Virginia Beach SPCA. She is a rescue from a puppy mill in West Virginia that was shut down due to poor treatment and living conditions. She was about 1 year old when we got her in September 2008 (1st photo). She quickly adapted to our way of life (2nd photo) and now runs the household. She loves fetching a tennis ball, inside and outside the house, and will keep you busy with it all day long if you let her. After a year with us she has lost her shyness and is now a very affectionate little girl. |

Our sweet boy TC has passed over the Rainbow Bridge and is now at peace. About 15 years old, he had 12 wonderful years with us after we rescued him from the SPCA. A shy boy, he stayed in the background except when dinner time came around. Then he was always front and center. He was great friends with Mr. Herd, and was never far from him. TC's body had finally given all it could, although he was a true fighter, trying so hard to walk but couldn't. He had spells where he wouldn't eat for days, weakening him further. His quality of life was gone, and it was with deep sorrow and pain that we helped to relieve him of his deteriorating earthly bounds. He left us on November 19, 2007, but will forever be in our hearts. He now rests close to Mr. Herd once again, under a Redbud tree on our property. (Photo taken April 2003.) |
