AGE OF MYTHOLOGY
Talk about a cool RTS game. It has better graphics than AoK, of course it has heroes too, and whole lots of myth units, which automatically generate various strategies. There are three civilizations in the game: The Greek, The Egyptian, and the Norse. Although the basic military options are limited, two calvaries, two infantries, and two archers, there are the myth units such as the hydra, chimera, scyillia (or something like that), colossus, cyclops, minotaurs, centaurs and scouts pegasus, not to mention two types of siege weapons for each civilizations, in greek's case they're the catapult and petrobolos, and a special unit.
You start a game (MP), you get to choose 1 major god, there are 3 major gods for each civilizations: Greek- Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon; Egyptian- Ra, Isis, and Set; Norse- Odin, Thor, Loki. Major gods have their own advantages, eg. Zeus lets you have 200 favor (see below), gain favor faster and a few others. Every major god has its own variety of minor gods, not neccesarily only that major god has a that particular minor god though, eg. both hades and zeus have dionysus I think. Each minor god target different things, like dionysus's benefits target calvaries while apollo's target archers. And having 6 minor gods there for you to worship (you can only choose 3, 1 for each age, in warcraft it's called tier you get the point), there is no doubt that strategists are getting to work. There are naval units but I can't give you details because I have yet to use naval units.
There are also god powers that each major and minor god gives you, here we go again: Dionysus gives you Bronze which reduces vulnerability temporarily; Zeus gives you Lightning Bolt which kills 1 unit instantly; Hephaestus gives you Plenty, which erects a vault that permanently gives you resources as long as you control it; Hera gives you Lightning Storm; Apollo gives Underworld, something like a tunnel that connects to wherever you put the exit. There are, as usual, 4 types of resources: gold, wood, food and favor. What is exactly favor? Well, you need those to buy upgrades that the minor gods give you, and of course the myth units. Once you have a steady income, you should have a few villagers praying at the temple to gain favor. The temple also hold relics/artifacts that your hero carry, there are relics scattered throughout the game and only your hero can bring it back.
