My Mother’s Flower

I once, a flower bud, Mother held me in her hand;
She thought I, the prettiest bud in all, this great land!

"The Promise" I showed, she kept hidden in the heart;
In hopes, one day, that bud would blossom, & soon depart!

And soon my petals grew, under Mother’s open face;
I smelled her lovely fragrance, attracting my hearts pace!

The morning dew fell from her eyes;
Washed away my every pride.

The thorns encased around her stem;
Reminded me once & again,

"THE PROMISE" that I should be;
Would happen in time for her to see!

The wind, the rain, the storm, from above;
Came to dry and wither my Mothers seeds of love!

So lastly as her seeds are strewn;
I suddenly realize, I’m on my own!

I wish I took time to show;
Yes Mother, now I really know.

The full bloom of life, hidden in your loving heart;
Is "THE PROMISE" I will keep & never part!
