A Zulu edition of the popular “Bring Nature Back to your Garden”. This book is designed specifically for our Zulu speaking gardeners.

Bring Nature Back to your Garden (Zulu edition)

The authors, Charles and Julia Botha, have donated all royalties from this book, to WESSA which means that all income from books sold goes to conservation.
To assist Zulu-speaking gardeners to communicate with those who have not yet mastered the is Zulu language, Buyisela Imvelo Engadini has a list of virtually all the Zulu names of a large number of indigenous plants opposite the English and Botanical equivalents.  But be warned, not all our plants, birds and insects have Zulu names!  As this book is, in many respects, a pioneer work, the translators went to great lengths to unearth as many names as possible.  However, as there were obviously not many Zulu-speaking botanists, ornithologists and entomologists in years gone by, nomenclature remains a tricky subject.
Buyisela Imvelo Engadini is a must not only for all Zulu-speaking gardeners, but is also more than useful to conservationists and anyone who has an interest in the natural sciences.
This book is again enhanced throughout by delightful drawings, some humorous, which emphasize points made in the text.  These sketches, which make the book even more of a pleasure to read and use, were all done by the late Eve Gibbs.  Eve, who died tragically during 2002 after being knocked down by a motorist, had looked forward enthusiastically to the launch of this Zulu edition, which is dedicated to her.
Mrs. Nicky Oppenheimer ordered and paid for a copy of Buyisela Imvelo Engadini several years ago when she read, in WESSA KZN News, that the English edition was being translated.  She was invited to the launch where her book, carrying the inscription “This is the first copy of this book to be sold’, was presented to her at long last.  A number of community leaders were also present at the launch, which was been made possible by generous sponsorship from Ingwe Collieries Ltd, who also sponsored the translation and printing of Buyisela Imvelo Engadini.
