...I did have a chance to see local band Brownstar perform at Bottom of the Hill on Friday, June 27th. Singer Moon Trent(Pale) and guitarist Brett Klinker (Tel Basta) were joined by newcomers Andy Lund and Scot Callis (Spackle) on bass and drums. They rocked the place, performing some of their more well-known songs such as, "Somethings Happening," as well as new material, closing with a new tune called "I'm Tired." Known as leaders of the "quiet core phenomenon," Brownstar has definitely cranked up the volume, moving their sound loudly into the punk/rock category. Moon sang with great energy dancing and kicking his way through the entire set. The rest of the band had no trouble keeping up, with the audience rocking the whole time. This is definitely a band to catch at their next performance! For information about Brownstar, contact timmi-kat ReCoRDS at 415-441-0881. And if you haven't been to Bottom of the Hill, ya gotta try it! It's a great venue to catch your favorite local band, with a full bar and loads of good snack food too!
