The West Liberty State College Women’s basketball team certainly lived up to its coaches poll preseason #1 billing by claiming both the WVIAC regular season and tournament championships.

Led by First Team All-Conference performers Kelly Easton and Adrianne Harlow, the Lady Toppers won the WVIAC regular season title by posting a 16-3 conference record.  After receiving a bye based on their #1 seed, the 'Toppers then defeated WVU-Tech, Wheeling Jesuit, and Glenville State to claim the program its third conference tournament championship in the last four years.  All-WVIAC Honorable mention selection Katie Bohus, who garnered her second consecutive Tournament MVP award, joined teammates Adrianne Harlow and Rachael Dedo on the All-tournament team.  Harlow also was voted the tournament’s "Heart and Hustle" award winner for the second year in a row.  The 'Toppers' season came to an end in the NCAA Regional Tournament, as they suffered a heartbreak 63-62 loss to Regional Runner-up Millersville University.

WVIAC Coach of the Year Lynn Ullom’s squad keys to success were their normal blend of man-to-man defense, transition offense, three-point shooting, and scoring balance.  Despite the team’s customary slow start (3-3) and the mid-season loss of All-WVIAC post player Erica Bevington, the Lady Toppers won 20 of its last 24 games to finish the campaign 23-7, equaling a school record for wins in a season.

The 'Toppers dominated the WVIAC statistical categories finishing first in the conference in scoring offense (75.0), field goal percentage (45.1), assists (21.7), assist-turnover ratio (1.16), three-point field goal percentage (37.4), and three-point field goals made per game (8.2).

Individually, 'Topper point-guard Adrianne Harlow claimed a NCAA Division II National assist title (8.0 apg) and the WVIAC’s three-point field goal percentage title (44.6%).  All-East Region post player Kelly Easton had another outstanding year, finishing third in the nation in field goal percentage (63.8).  Easton (14.7) led the team in scoring and was joined in double figures by Bohus (10.8), Harlow (10.8), Candy Williams (10.7), and Dedo (10.2).  West Liberty also got big contributions from athletic defenders Holly Bock, Tyra Conaway, and three-point threat Shay Glauser.  Newcomers Lindsay Mast and Val Miyares also provided key depth.

Sadly, the Lady 'Toppers again suffer key graduation losses, saying goodbye to standouts Erica Bevington, Kelly Easton, Candy Williams, Tyra Conaway, and Holly Bock.  Their contributions to the program will be sorely missed.
