Karen Westbrook is an artist with a variety of interests who works in a variety of media. The emphasis is on the incredible detail of each piece of work. Done without the aid of computers or other manufacturing shortcuts, all of her work is truly hand done and a creation of the artist.
As a child living in Bucks County, PA., she was deeply impressed by visits to the historical sites such as Valley Forge, Gettysburg and Trenton. Her creative spirit was fed by the green rolling countryside, the Revolutionary War and Civil War history and artifacts, and the work of her mother and grandmother.
Having moved to Indiana as a young adult, she began her own creative life as a quilter. Soon a master quilter, she won numerous awards, including 2 Indiana State Fair 1st Place, Sweepstakes and Best of Show awards. Her work has been presented on television and in newspaper articles. In 1996 she began to diversify by creating dioramas, Victorian pins, specialty wear and interior design. Some of her recent work is on display at the Carlton Architectural Group in New York City.
First, quality materials insure acceptance. A piece or a project must meet the highest standards - Karen's own approval. If she is not satisfied, it will be worked until she is. |
