Annual Westby Golf Scramble
On August 6th, the annual Westby golf tournament was held at the
Plentywood Golf Course with proceeds going to the Westby Community
Center. Teams were picked by blind draw with a total of ten teams
participating.
Winning first place was the team of Darrin Elm, Carley Lawsen, Ross
Tangedal and Ryan Tangedal.

2006 SCHOOL YEAR TO BEGIN
Summer is winding down and it is soon time for a new school year to begin. The teachers will report to school on August 21st for two PIR days and the students will begin on August 23rd with Kindergarten starting the following day, August 24th.
In checking with Peggy Bowman, the school secretary, there was found to be 49 students registered this year in grades K-12. This is one more student than finished last spring.
A new staff member has been hired to replace Janis Fisher as the Special Ed/ Title I teacher. Her name is Donna Mareno-Collier and she comes to us from St. Regis, Montana. We welcome her to the community. All other personnel assignments will remain the same.
Boys and girls basketball, as well as volleyball, will be cooped with Grenora again this year. Volleyball season begins this fall with the matches held primarily in Grenora. Girl's basketball will be based in Grenora using their schedule and season with select games played in Westby. The reverse will be true with boy's basketball. Sue and Kim Meyer of the WHS faculty will again be the boy's basketball coaches. Football will be cooped with Plentywood.
School buses will run and both breakfast and lunch will be served beginning August 23rd.
