RITES ARE HELD FOR
LILLIAN HARFORD, 88
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Resler Harford, 88, who died Monday morning at the Otterbein Home, Lebanon, O., were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the Westerville United Brethren Church with Rev. J. Stuart Innerst, the pastor, in charge of the memorial services. Interment was made in by Geo. W. Stockdale & Son.
Mrs. S. S. Hough of Dayton, president of the Women's Missionary Association of the United Brethren church, spoke in the behalf of the outstanding contribution Mrs. Harford gave to that organization. Mrs. Harford was one of four women who organized the W. M. A. of the U. B. church and for a number of years was earnestly engaged in the missionary work of the church traveling both east and west where she was called upon to found many societies.
Dr. Alfred Howard and Dr. S. G. Zeigler, both of Bonebrake Seminary in Dayton, also took part at the services.
In the late 60's the Resler family moved to Westerville from Pennsylvania and made this their home while the father served as the college pastor and gave years of service to the college. During their residence in Westerville the family consisting of seven children attended the public schools and college. Mrs. Harford was a member of Otterbein's graduating class of 1872.
Two years this June she attended the commencement exercises and had a part on the program at the Alumni banquet relating in her usual witty manner many interesting experiences of the college and town.
She is survived by one son, Mr. Henry M. Harford of Perris, Calif., her brother, Mr. Frank J. Resler of Columbus and her sister, Mrs. Lydia Resler Miller of Pennsylvania are the only surviving relatives beside a number of nieces and nephews.
On her last visit to his office she told how she had been a reader of the Public Opinion all her life.
