Rev. J. Neely Boyer conducted the funeral services Tuesday afternoon for Charles Frederick Rankey, age 83, who died early Sunday morning at his home, 27 Logan Avenue, after being confined to his home for the past three weeks. A native of Grove City he was born July 17, 1861. Fifty-eight years ago he married Anna S Geyer and in 1907 they moved to a farm on the County Line road, the farm formerly owned by Lafe Kern. In 1911 Mr. and Mrs. Rankey moved into Westerville where he was engaged in real estate business.
Preceding him in death were his two sons, George and Carl Rankey who died from an auto accident over 20 years ago. Surviving are his wife and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Dellinger of Canal Winchester; Mrs. Sevilla Johnston and Mrs. Emma Murphy of Westerville and Miss Frances Rankey of Columbus; six grandchildren, Elsie Dellinger, Ogden and Howard Dellinger of Canal Winchester; S/Sgt. Robert Murphy and Gwendolyn Murphy and Mary Elizabeth Rankey of Westerville; three brothers, William, Henry, and Frank Rankey; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Geyer all of Grove City.
Burial was in Otterbein Mausoleum by K.R. Fichner.
