Dies at Home Saturday
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Episcopal church for William C. Bale, aged 67, who died Saturday morning at his home, 76 W. Main street, from complications following a year's illness.
Mr. Bale had been a resident of Westerville for 39 years during which time he had been a hardware dealer until three years ago when he retired.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lizzie L. Bale, two sons, Fred and Walter; two daughters, Mrs. Ora Hartman and Mrs. Warren Hays, and five sisters.
Mr. Bale was a member of Blendon lodge of Masons and of Rainbow lodge, I.O.O.F.
Burial was made in Otterbein cemetery in charge of G. W. Stockdale & Son.
Rev. J. E. Walter, superintendent of the Methodist Children's Home at Worthington, preached the funeral sermon. He was assisted by Rev. Nelson D. Creamer, former pastor of the local church, who read the scripture and who was in charge of the committal services at the cemetery, and Rev. J. Stuart Innerst, pastor of the United Brethren church, who offered the invocation and pronounced the benediction. The services at the mausoleum in the cemetery were in charge of Rainbow lodge of Oddfellows.
During the hour that the services were being conducted, stores suspended business.
