Funeral services for George W. Stockdale, age 86, a funeral director in Westerville for the past 47 years, who died Wednesday night at his home, 43 North State Street, after an illness of five weeks, were held Sunday afternoon at the Funeral Home, 40 West College Avenue, with Rev. J. N. Boyer and Rev. George Parkinson of Canton, officiating.
Prior to establishing the Stockdale Funeral Home in Westerville, he had been a funeral director in Philo, Ohio, his home town, for 11 years. His son, Charles M. Stockdale, was associated with him in the undertaking business here.
Surviving are his sons, Charles and A. A. Stockdale, both of Westerville; two daughters, Mrs. William Hogue and Mrs. Curtis Freeman; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death eight years ago.
Burial was in Otterbein Mausoleum with Raymond Hill of Columbus, in charge.
