Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Curfman, 64 West Broadway, received word from the War Department that their younger son, Lt. Robert W. Curfman, 21, was killed in action in Germany February 3. The telegram gave no details.
Lt. Curfman had been wounded in France August 9, and was sent back to the front early this year, after several months in an English hospital. He was awarded the Purple Heart September 22 at the hospital.
Lt. Curfman was graduated from Culver Military Academy, Culver, Ind., in June 1942, and at the time was commissioned a second lieutenant in the infantry. He was called to active service December 29, 1942, and received a year and a half of training before being assigned to overseas duty.
Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, A. D. Curfman, Jr., of Santa Barbara, Calif., and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Curfman, Columbus.
