Former Constable
Of Blendon Dies
Following Stroke

Rev. Donald W. Cryer was in charge of the funeral service for John Purdue Rogers, age 79, of 64 East Main street, who died Saturday evening at the Sun Ridge Rest Home, Sunbury road, Columbus, following a stroke suffered on Monday. The services were held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Fichner Funeral Home and entombment was in Otterbein Mausoleum.
Native of South Ridge community in Genoa township, Mr. Rogers spent his entire life in this community. He was a former constable of Blendon township and at one time owned a taxi service, also was a bus driver for the Westerville schools for several years.
He was a member of the Methodist church, Odd Fellows lodge, and Twilight Rebekah.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. J. Frank Kidner of Columbus; seven nieces and six nephews. Among the nephews and nieces in this vicinity are Mrs. Frank Taylor and Lewis Orndorff of Westerville; Miss Monna Rogers, Mrs. Grace Love and Leonard Rogers of South Ridge community; Gale Orndorff of Columbus and Mrs. Carl Sturgeon of Powell.
