Many thanks to all who attended the AGM on Monday 11th of October. This was the best attended AGM of recent times and resulted in a change of most committee members (for which the outgoing committee were very grateful!). The committee members are now as follows: President Rhona Cottell (unchanged) Chairman Chris Martin (was Jim Beatty) Vice Chair Elspeth Edmonds (was Shirley Hughes) Treasurer Charlie Taylor (was Jane Winwood) Vice Treasurer Mark Taggart (unchanged) Minute Secretary Angie Eason (was Angela Strange) Secretary Amelia Ellis (was Angie Eason) Provisions Officer Situation vacant (was Pip Bowditch) Publicity Officer Len Copeland (was Geoff Winwood) Two other members were co-opted but have as yet not taken on a post. These are Dawn Cope and Dave Stevens. Rhona Cottell thanked all of the outgoing members for their help and support. Several had been on the PTFA for many years. During the evening the whole committee were photographed to allow a publication to be produced for all parents of school pupils so that you will be able to put a face to the names, which should help you track them down! The new PTFA committee is also producing a 'circular' to make sure that everyone is aware of their role and how parents, the PTFA and the school fit together. Briefly: 1. Every parent or guardian with a child at the school is automatically a member of the PTFA. 2. Anyone wishing to attend PTFA meetings is (and always has been) very welcome. The meetings are NOT just for committee members and you are welcome to come along and take

part or just socialise as you wish. 3. The role of the PTFA is to raise money for use in the school. Every year the PTFA raises more than a thousand pounds and always pays for half of the school crossing patrol as well as computer leases for the school. The PTFA has also paid for part of the new school computer network and many books, musical instruments and pieces of equipment as well as part funding school trips. In the past the PTFA has been responsible for building a staff room, putting in a pond, preparing the site for a new classroom and much more besides. 4. The PTFA's aim is to make money while having fun (or fun and funds as it was described at the AGM). You are all welcome to join in and help in any way you can, we hope you will also find that it can be a fun way of meeting and socialising with other parents too! The next PTFA meeting is Monday 1st November at The Castle (provisionally) starting at 7:15; we hope you can be there. The next event will be the ever popular Prize Christmas Bingo which will be held on the 3rd December in the School, watch out for posters with further details closer to the time. Start time is provisionally 7:15 for eyes down at 7:30. Attractions will include refreshments and a prize draw as well as the bingo. Finally, I would like to wish the new team every success especially to Len Copeland who is taking over my job as 'Publicity Officer'.
