We are planning to hold a Village Horticultural Show during the weekend following the August Bank Holiday next year in and around the Recreation Club and already we have some ideas.  Apart from the usual fruit and vegetable sections there could  be competitions for the following:

Home made wine/cider/beer
Jams/chutneys/cakes
Best front garden/courtyard
                                 garden
Flower arrangements
For the children:
A sunflower-to be grown at
   home and measured on the
   eve  the competition.
Garden on a plate.
Flower posy - wild or
                            cultivated.

     In June the children experienced a coach trip to the Sealife Centre at Weymouth funded by an Alphabet Scavenger Hunt which raised over £300.
     We also had a visit by a
Yeovil fire engine which thrilled the children especially as the engine had to leave us to go straight to an emergency with lights flashing and sirens sounding!
     In the last week of term we had a party and a teddy bear's picnic with an entertainer and races.  The children who were leaving to start school next term were presented with books (funded from the sweet stall we ran at the school fete).
     Staff too received gifts as a thank you for all their hard work during the year.
