Some Of My Favorite Movies

I have found that I have better luck at the independent theaters than the big theaters in finding good movies. The list is not in any particular order. Many of these movies, you will find that the critics did not enjoy them. I thoroughly enjoyed them. Here is a small list of movies that I really enjoyed:

• And The Band Played On. 1993 (An important reminder - AIDS & our twisted past & present for that matter.)
• Anna and the King. 1999
• Before Night Falls. 2000
• Big Eden. 2001 (Loved the writing. Found it funny that some of the critics did not get it.)
• The Breakfast Club. 1985
• Chocolat. 2000
• Cider House Rules. 2000 (An important reminder - Abortion Rights)
• Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. 2001
• Dead Poet Society. 1989
• Elizabeth. 1998
• Fahrenheit 9/11. 2004
• Hedwig and the Angry Itch. 2001 (Reminds me of the Rocky Horror Picture Show)
• Joy Luck Club. 1993
• Kama Sutra: A Tale Of Love. 1997 (It amazes me how many films since this one have used the music from this movie.)
• Life Is Beautiful. 1998. Must be seen in Italian with subtitles. English version looses too much in the translation.
• Maria Full Of Grace. 2004.
• Memento. 2001 (What a trip.)
• On Golden Pond. 1981
• Real Women Have Curves. 2002
• The Red Violin. 1998
• Schindler's List. 1993 (An important reminder - Holocaust)
• The Sound of Music. 1965 (Had to put it here...my grandfather was a musician in the original play.)
• Terms Of Endearment. 1983 (The last movie that I saw with my father)
• Wizard of Oz. 1939

• Canadian Bacon. 1994 (Silly movie...loved the way it pokes fun at our own government.)
