What is an EKG?

What does that durned squiggle mean?

Well, I'd first like to say that Dale Dubin's book, Rapid Interpretation of EKG's: A program course, Cover Inc., ©1996 is probably the most useful, concise, and easily read source for this material. I really think every medical student, certainly by the time they are an intern probably even before reaching the floors in the third year should have read this book cover to cover. I'll do my best in the following pages to cover some of the basics of how EKG's work, but that book is enjoyable and a fast read.

With that said, let's press on. If you have read the book, this will be a basic review. If you haven't, then this probably isn't the best source to learn this, but maybe a useful one for you...
