What's New?

Citizens
August 5th:
23 PV citizens
2 PV friends

PP goes bi-monthly
As you might have noticed there was no Pink Point issue in July. The main reason for this is that the summer arrived in Mr. editor's real world. Also the amount of readers is not astonishing compared to the work creating this newsletter . Conclusion - PP will from now on be out about every 2nd month - new issues will be announced at
Queer Square.

AW's updated pages
Circle of Fire Studios has updated their
webpages, have a look! The new concept is easier to use and includes Active News, Homesteader's Guide to building, Active Worlds general newsgroup, and more. It's a pity though that the suggestion box has been removed.

New Avatars?
Earlier this summer most of us ran about trying to escape those huge black rats running about near Ground Zero. It turned out to be the new avatars that never seemed to be downloaded successfully. Now those avatars are gone, and it's hard to say whether it was an system error or a unsuccessful attempt to give us more bodies to choose among. If anyone has got information on this, please notify Pink Point.

The heterosexuals
"The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and three hundred sixty two admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision."
--Lynne Lavner

Real World News
By Lacerta

Lacerta tried to fly
This PP issue has ironically not got any traditional "Real Life News" because the editor herself had an accident in her Real Life. Lacerta has got gaps in memory from an accident while she was out hiking. Apparently she tried to fly, slipped, hit her head on some rocks, knocked herself out and was unconscious out in the sun for a while. She has been nursing a broken collarbone and some cracked ribs, assorted bruises, and a concussion. And some tender places where she crashed into cactus. And a sunburn. She says she looks like someone beat her up in an alley. By now Lacerta has been recovering very well, and she will soon be back to normal. Luckily her avatar was not damaged... Who said Real Life is not exciting?

The Yellow Pages

Do you know what sites there are to visit in Pink Village? Do the other citizens know about the house or attraction that you have built? The previous PV Info-page did not include private homes, and neither were there any easy way for new builders to register their brand new sites.

Today we've finally got the Pink Village Yellow Pages where PV locations are listed with interactive links and even photos on some of them. YP even allow you to write a few lines to describe your site. The sites are sorted by groups such as private homes, attractions, social life, shops, gardens and finally the Pink Village public services. You can easily add your location to the list by using the form available at the Yellow Pages. Note that these lists are meant to include sites within the PV area only.

The PV Council now asks all citizens to register their location so that the Yellow Pages can be complete. YP will be introduced to our guests from a stand in the Info Centre, and will also be announced outside PV. Any registration might lead to more visitors to your lot.

All PV locations ought to be listed. Please register your site now, and check back frequently to explore new locations added to our community!

Virtual Reality Time

The time zones again... aren't they annoying? How many times have you calculated to figure out the correct local time for your latest appointment in one of the active worlds? Even if Pink Village has been using GMT for a standard time since January this year, other worlds might have been using local standards like Eastern or Pacific time. It's easy to get confused about the time, and adjustments
for summer do make it even more complicated. How boring to get late for an interesting appointment!

There has for a while been a standard time zone in some of the active worlds including Alpha World - Virtual Reality Time (VRT). VRT is -2GMT. You will find both VRT and GMT clocks running at this web page.

PV Council has decided that Pink Village will adopt VRT as a standard starting September 1st 97. Please make sure that there will be no more GMT on your signs etc, and remember that the best way to learn VRT is to use it:). To remind us there will be raised temporary Atomic Clock boards at all PV squares. These boards will be linked to the "Alpha Worlds Official Atomic Clock".

A kiss is just a kiss?

Saturday night August 2nd the 4th exhibition was opening at our Gallerie 2222. This time we were served the art of kissing - naturally from a homosexual point of view.

12 photos will make the visitors slaver, probably some of us will go home to practise some Real Life kissing afterwards. Besides a link to the "FAQ on kissing" this exhibition also includes a few surprises as you walk about in the gallery.

The photos are collected from the Web, and Gallerie 2222 apologises if there are any copyrights that we are not aware of. A few of the pictures are credited in the gallery's diary.

New AW browser

5 months ago Active Worlds was handed over to Circle of Fire, and the AW browser has been improved several times. Within a few weeks (August?) the new version 1.3 will be released, and here we bring you a few of the new features that you can look forward to.

You will get the ability to send short telegrams to others within Active Worlds, no matter what world they are in. The system will allow 250 characters in each message. If your friends are not on-line the telegram will be saved and delivered to them when they next log in. This sounds pretty much like Icq, but as it will be a integrated service the recipient's nick will probably be all you need to know.

The new version will also allow you to keep your private contact list of your friends in Active Worlds. Like Icq the list will tell you if your friends are present in Active Worlds or not. When the list tells you that a listed person is on-line you can easily be teleported to the place where he/she is at the moment by clicking his/her name. Of course you will have the possibility of preventing others from joining you - practical when you are working on your secret building or visiting the darkroom or private lockers at Chain's Bar:)

These are only a few of the features of the upcoming version. The information is collected from a quote that Roland posted for the newsgroups July 10th. If you want to read more go to AW's web site (celect "user pages" and "Active News").

Chains Club

Ultimo August there is a brand new club opening in Pink Village. Chains Club is a night-club intended for boys and girls who prefer SM, leather, and other exciting intimate games, but everyone is invited to join the opening no matter what game you desire. It might be a challenge to be rough towards a Butch avatar, or to dominate Tanya, but without even trying this you will never know.

In the basement of Chains Club you can visit the darkroom where something definitely is going on. The club will also offer private lockers, but as the other guests will be capable of walking through the walls by pressing the shift-key, the establishment can not guaranty your privacy in there. If you do remove your pants or dress (which avatar can do so...?) remember it's more fun if you get assisted by someone else. Safe sex is fun, too!

At the moment the club is not completed, so the date for the opening party is yet not decided. Look out for announcements at Queer Square ultimo August! If you are a PV citizen or friend you will automatically be invited by mail.

Lesbians in PV

The PV Council has been busy discussing how we can make more lesbians wanna settle down in Pink Village. Today we count 3 girls and 22 guys in PV. As a start the Pink Parade night-club's entrance has been redecorated, and there will also be several boards carrying lesbian identity symbols. PVC has also discussed the use of gay/lesbian symbols, and discovered that the meaning of these symbols differs quite a bit around the world. Dykes are still very much welcome to stay in Pink Village. Anyone knowing of any cyber lesbian that might be interested in joining PV, please invite her to join in!
