Blood
I drink of you not with you...
Click for a blood castle, a bleeding rose, a rant on linked psychology, the blood anatomy of a human being or a cute clock. The clock gives you advice based on what time it is where you are. Of course any time is Feed the Fetish time - what are you waiting for feed your fetish now.
A quick note on testing and safety prior to being a haemosexual or doing anything with someone else / exposing yourself to their blood is also included on this page. We have some information on bloodsport and a blurb on the emerging term bloodist that I got from Catherene at the Vampiric Studies teaching site. The section on blooding has been expanded on and will be again soon once we have more reliable research information on hand.
Since ancient times blood has been associated with mystery and myth. In my best 'der' voice: it was known to be an essential part of life since excessive blood loss resulted in death and sublethal loss gave the chance for recovery. Blood symbolised health, strength, and life strength. It's not surprising that the ultimate sacrifice in many religions was the pouring of blood to symbolise the giving of life. Drinking of blood was associated with strength and renewed life. Even in the 21st century blood continues to have a mystical aspect and influence on our thinking. The Red Cross blood bank here in Australia has a campaign entitled "Give Blood, Give Life".

Testing someone prior to playing blood games with them is improtant...
Some general information first: One drop of blood (1mm cubed) contains 4 thousand to 10 thousand white blood cells, about 250 thousand platelets, and 4.5 million red blood cells. Any of these could have something wrong with them. Blood gets around the body in about 60 seconds. The average person has about 5 to 5.5 litres (13 pints) of blood in total. Three fifths of the blood is in the veins and arteries, one fifth is in the lungs being oxygenated, the other fifth is scattered in various places like the muscles, lymphatics, liver, kidneys etc. One cell makes 45 thousand journies in the body in a lifetime. The primary role of blood is an oxygen carrier - a life carrier.
Never trust pieces of paper that people show
saying that they are clean. Go *with* the person and get the tests
done together. Further to this use a three strikes testing
methodolgy which is: Test - wait three months, Test - wait another three
months, Test again then if things are fine, assuming all good results
and no exposure / risk component with either of you in the mean time,
assess the trust factor and go from there. So... as for having
"blood cards" - don't trust them. All the people who you intend to consume
from (or vice versa) should go through a testing regime and
should also be present the test results are given. There are many very
friendly pathology labs and testing clinics everywhere who are quite comfortable with
this practice - they normally think you are a couple wanting to know if it is
cool to have unprotected sex I'm sure *grins*. Expect and plan for safety, don't guess after it is too late.
Obviously things like drug use go without saying, drugs in someone's blood might be fine but once those drugs in their blood hit your stomach there is a completely different set of chemical reactions taking place which can react with other natural chemicals in your stomach. Liken it to anti-biotics and alcohol - they're fine when they are apart and they each serve different purpose but when they're combined the effect can be lethal in some people.
Incidently - it is a good idea to also test for lymphocyte level in any potential person you will do stuff with (as well as the above) as this
can point towards whether someone may be more prone to infection / have
low immunity OR if they have an infection brewing. Lymphocytes normally
comprise of 25% of the total white blood cell count but increase in
number *normally* to fight infection and counter to this if there are
not enough of them - immunity can be down. What's great about this is
that you can see this at the first test.
Finally, be aware that some diseases, in rare cases, can actually lie dormant in the human body and blood for some time. There will always be a risk of this but from our research, this risk is minimal providing you are prepared to wait it out and test as described above.
Assessing someone's mental ability to handle blood play is improtant...
The physical considerations for safety are obvious. The other side of all this which is forgotten is the mental "safety". There is always a chance that the person(s) you are with are not going to freak out on you and find it all too intense - that is why it is good to get to know someone personaly as well and educate them through ways and let them in gently as oposed to chucking in the deep end of the pool. Blood fetishism involves the sharing of life fluid which is intense at the very least. Some people just can't handle it. Traditional training as to these feelings and the depth appreciation from a master is where we come into the picture.
Modern psychoanalysis to justify vanilla excuses...
Just a quick warning that this information is generalist in nature and definitely not the full picture on all psychoanalysis of blood fetishism.
Text books containing unfair definitions of clinical vampirism, as a psychological disorder, involve aspects of necrophilia, sadism, cannibalism, and a fascination with blood. Some books describe its relationships with typical diagnostic categories, particularly schizophrenia and psychopathy. These are examined by the authors and illustrated by the presentation of a 'modern' vampire. As myth and reality are disentangled by the clinical world, those professionals find that vampirism is a wide topic that can not be out into a single box.
Many of these self defined clinical experts point to family relationships gone bad when analyzing the possible causes of the blood fetishist/vampire phenomenon. Many of these completely false psychoanalytic hypothesese reinforce the notion of incest, claiming that a bite on the neck represents sexual intercourse and that the long teeth of a feeder symbolize a penis of the father that is the object of projected hate by the victim. This one interpretation is continually seriously put forward by Freudian-based analysts. These academics never come up with their own theories based on their own resarch, they are geerallly only interested in having their work accepted in the circles they keep.
Further psychoanalytic theory suggest that vampirism could be caused by the apparent search for something that the vampire or blood fetishist subconsciously feels is missing. They proclaim that their destiny is to acquire an object of desire just like the theory for any other fetish. Some of these cases are really twisted by the authors who say that the object of desire is like the intimacy or love they missed as a child, and the replacement becomes the blood of those from whom they drink. The there is the theory that they are sucking on blood because they were unable to be breast fed as a baby. The authors also pose hypothetical questions like: Are people who engage in vampiric activities, and taking blood from others, reenacting their own early infancy when they were being breast fed ? Are these people wanting to be children again ? When it all comes down to it these academics are full of total contradictory bullshit.
An alternative Freudian interpretation is also very questionable when you look at some of the information provided by persons who engage in voluntary blood drinking activities. No explanation will ever be 100% acceptable but there is some consesus that for many blood drinkers there are feelings of warmth, closeness, and intimacy. There is a definite link between the need for blood and the need for the connection that is derived from consuming.
The other possibility suggested by psychologists who work with blood drinkers is that sadomasochism can have some part to play. Although this theory starts off well in several books, it goes off track fairly quickly and show that the authors have little understanding about real SM. We won't bore you with further detail on this one. Blood lust can be likened to Freud's classic interpretation of oral sadism, which is translates biting another and sucking their blood into sexual satisfaction. It's too bad the authors never moved away from Freud's beginnings, because in most cases that's all they are - beginnings.
There are a number of blood fetishists out there who are into real SM and participate in blood play as part of this ritual. There is also a lovely component of pain in the extraction of blood, which is part of it, for real SM people. Not all blood fetishists, however, are sadomasochists. Some people state clearly that they get a heightened sense of intimacy when they drink blood. See the bit below on another slant - the Bloodist - for more info. Intimacy is inherent in some sadomasochistic relationships but some blood fetishists who are not into traditional SM believe the intimacy is of a different nature - similar to love. Regardless of what you get from blood drinking, or what type of blood fetishist you might be, no academic can put you in a box with everyone else. If you enjoy it then do it and don't feel guilty about it.
What's this 'Bloodist' word that I see from time to time ?
The best site we've found so far on this word is the site we got some of the following text from. It agrees with everything we say but just says it in some slightly different ways. It starts off by saying that the word 'fetish' means 'magical implement'.
The writing says "a 'fetish' is used in magic, for healing and many other positive things. The word in modern day usage has more often come to mean a deviant behaviour, a sexual act to help gain arousal or completion. With a blood fetish, it means someone who needs the presence of blood during the sexual act, either their own or that of a partner. The bloodist is usually connected to bondage or S&M, where the entire experience is based on power and control for both, or either, of the participants. A Fetishist can be a Bloodist, but a Bloodist may not be a Fetishist.
A Bloodist is a person who partakes of human or animal blood, but not for a sexual purpose. Anyone who partakes of the blood of another is a Bloodist. Bloodists often call themselves vampires or are called vampires by outsiders and the uninformed. Again, the word 'vampire', as used here, is an umbrella term to them meaning anyone who intakes blood.
Bloodists and Fetishists are not real vampires. They, bloodists, are only humans who enjoy feeding from one another. They do not have the Vampire Medical Condition and they do not necessarily have the psychological problems so often attributed to sexual fetishists. Bloodists are not infected with a retro-virus commonly attributed to all vampires in todays modern medicine.
Bloodists often do not need blood to survive, as in nourishment, the way real and true medical vampires do. They simply have made a life style out of sharing one another's blood for pleasure, intimacy or some other form of bonding and closeness. Bloodists do often have both blood and sex, or just the "blooding", which in many cases replaces the passion of sex itself.Again, I remind you that these are not vampires.
Bloodists obtain their blood from donors and friends. Usually they do so by slicing with a razor, scalpel or other device included in the design of various jewellery. Blood pumps and needles are also used but bloodists or fetishists seldom employ biting. Most often these arrangements are consensual, but very dangerous. Such practices can lead to infections and transmitted illnesses of the blood..."
The article then goes on to give some advice on being 100% safe about blood play.
What are the so called bloodsports ?
Articles about Bloodsports generally lack enough detail to give anyone any hope of knowing what they are / were. Bloodsports are not the same as bloodletting, although bloodsports may involve, as a component, some bloodletting. Bloodsports were just as the name suggests - a game played by a group of individuals that like to consume blood in large quantities. The game was won based on how much blood could be obtained, either willing or unwilling, throughout a night by a single player. Watchers ruled over the players so no cheating could exist. You could call this cult activity. Games went on between cities, or traditional families, in the gothic times it is rumoured that they became very violent.
The original sport is probably a direct influence on the now role playing games that exist today dealing with vampirism and occult. Those who have played a true bloodsport don't have any respect for role players or wannabes. When the bloodsport players played, they played for real - a true physical and mental challenge. It's said that most of the participants were people with the desire of blood, some of the participants were vampiric or supernatural in their form. Bloodsport games on a non-consensual basis are illegal - so don't try this at home or at your local goth club kiddies. Rumour has it that some bloodsport still exists in tradtional circles.
Blooding was cruel and non-consensual
It was once commonly believed that a witch's power could be nullified by blooding or burning her blood. Convicted witches were "scored above the breath" (slashed over the nose and mouth) and allowed to bleed. Sometimes witches blooded this way bled to death.
In the late 1800's and early 1900's there are instances of blooding exercises by mothers training the figures of their daughters through strict bondage and corset training. Blooding was used here to keep the victim week thus reducing the chances of them being strong enough to release their bonds. Blooding has also been used in various prison and disciplinary systems over the centuries and it was only in 1984 that the Geneva convention voted to put blooding on to the atrocities list for prisoners of war.
In more recent times the description of "blooding" someone can mean lots of different things depending on where you are and what you are in to. Groups of people have used blooding as a rite of passage. Rituals where someone is literally bled (ussually rapidly) until they feel cold, start hallucinating and can't stay awake have been known to happen and are downright dangerous - even though you may see this at your local underground club - don't try this at home kiddies !
