Carrousel Club of South Australia Inc "Supporting all gender diversity"

Membership
Last Updated 14th October 2009 PLEASE NOTE:The Carrousel Web site will be redirecting to a new yahoo site on October 26th this year. You will be automatically redirected to the new site. Our email link is still fully operational and remains the same.

People with gender issues generally come from all walks of life, all levels of society, and span all social cultures. This is reflected in the membership of the Carrousel Club. We are a friendly, easy going group of people with a common bond of our gender issues (cross-dressing or transsexuality). Many of us are single, with others in traditional relationships, some even married and with children.

We can provide emotional support and social contact for you and your family or friends in a relaxed atmosphere. We maintain contact with interstate groups so, when you are travelling, you can visit them. If needed, we can help you make contact with counsellors or social workers. Within the club, there is a support network for partners. For those who are seeking to permanently change their gender, we can provide information and guidance.

As a member of the Club, you may well be invited to another member's home. For this and other reasons, there is a need for us to get to know you before you become a member. Prospective members meet with a committee person prior to being invited to attend a meeting. The aim of this requirement is to protect all members and prospective members, and this might include you one day. It cannot be avoided.

At your first club meeting, you will be introduced by only your chosen name to those members and guests that are present. As we are a social club, members will ask questions in the course of general conversation. Whether you choose to reveal any information is your decision. If you do not wish to answer a question, just say so. Let us assure you that we understand how you are likely to be feeling at your first meeting - at some time we have all made that tentative, enormous step of contacting someone unknown at our club. You really have nothing to fear. We consider your confidence and security our greatest concern.

We appreciate the opportunity to tell you of our group, and to explain how you might join. For us to progress from here, we need a method of contacting you. We prefer to contact you by phone, as we have discovered that letter or Email correspondence quickly becomes tedious. Also, phone contact establishes a small but important level of trust. If you wish to proceed, you can telephone us directly, or fill in the form below and press the submit button. Note that this form is not secure, and most newer Web Browsers refuse to process the code behind it. Email looks the best option.

The club also operates an Email information, support and peer counselling service, and you are welcome to Email us at any time. You can make contact now, by ringing our Message Bank on 08 8411 0874. You will then be given the current membership secretary's phone number. Please note that the Club charges a contact fee of $10 to cover the expenses of the Committee person that you meet. This should be paid if requested at the time of the meeting.
