My weekend was pretty great. My little brother is now 16 years old and I feel ancient. I remember the phone call, 16+ years ago, telling my grandma that my little brother had been born and how my other brother, myself, and the other neighborhood kids ran around with Sweetie Pies and told the world that David was born. That was back when my “world” consisted of no knowledge of what would happen after I crossed the “busy street”. Now I have my big kid job, a nice car, great friends but sometimes I wonder what would have happened if any one thing in my life had gone differently…
So, I work with engineers. What a strange bunch they are, let me tell you. Never in a million years did I ever imagine myself working with some of the smartest people in the world. Never in a million years did I ever imagine that the same smart people turn into whiny, crazy-acting, hair-pulling, stapler-throwers when the email system goes down. You’d swear by the way they act that email has been around since the dinosaurs and they’ve never had to actually call someone and go pick up drawings. I know, foreign concept. Everyone needs to read the Dilbert that was in last Sunday’s comics. I’m going to find it, cut it out and tape it to everyone’s monitors that has ever asked me that dreaded phrase: “So, email is down, huh?” Yes! Sod off.
I did something bad last night. I double booked for tonight. Again! I always do this. It was my idea for Jenn to make plans to go play with the baby kitties at her bosses house tonight and then I went and told Des that I’d meet up with her again before she takes the baby back to Utah for another 6 months. If I’m quick and super-talented, I think that I can be at Des’ from 5-6:30 and race home to meet up with everyone to go see the kitties. Should be interesting.
