Weavre's Pasted Posts
Pasted Posts
I'm a frequent poster to message boards, and have often felt that my "distraction" there interfered with time I could spend writing for my web site. What better solution, then, than simply to share here what I've shared elsewhere, to incorporate those rants and raves and encouragements into the ever-expanding universe that exists in my little corner of Webspace? And so, ignoring all that I'd have to scavenge from before, beginning with the new year, here you can read what I've voiced elsewhere . . . enjoy! *smile*
Originally posted 1/4/2000 to Top>GeoCities>WestHollywood > PRIDE? , in response to an articulate, thoughtful person who wondered why we'd want to encourage "pride" in something as simple and innate as our sexual orientation; the author who started the thread (froff1_1999) felt that we'd do better to be proud of our accomplishments as people, and to skip the parade that only celebrates being gay. He makes a good point. But I still think we need Pride . . .

Out with Kids in the American South

, in which she asked, "Hey girls,
Anyone have any thing to say about coming out with your kids and the adjustments therein? Any and all words of experience welcome. "
Respect, Courtesy, and Religion
Originally posted 1/24/2000 to Top>Regional>US States>Tennessee>Memphis Metro>General > Attention Church People in response to a plea for decent treatment from a restaurant worker (Tennessee_tallgirl ) sick of Sunday-after-church rudeness. "God wants you to follow but I never seen his nose stuck in the air as much as you people." Both the original post and the next dozen or so replies focused on how "Christians" should behave toward one another, with varying opinions and clarity. Now I'm a courteous person, but I'm not a Christian . . . :)
Out to Students
Originally posted 1/26/00 to Top>Cultures & Community>Groups>Lesbians, Gays, and Bisexuals>Lesbian > A Poem to print, in response to myhaf's "outness to students" contribution. She asked if "any teachers out there have an opinion of being out to their students . . . Also, would you come out to a good friend who is a born-again Christian and thinks being gay is a sin?"
