Death In Chains:
The wily king Sisyphus does better that cheat death. When it arrives, in the person of the goddess Celesta, he chains his visitor and seizes her eternal flame. There are side effects: after Xena kills the bandit Toxeus, he later springs up none the worse for the sword wound through his body. Hades, god of the underworld, explains to Xena that if the flame of his sister Celesta burns out, no one will be able to die, and eternal life -filled with suffering- will be the fate of all mankind. Xena agrees to rescue Celesta, aided by a young friend of Gabrielle named Talus, though he suffers from an incurable disease and knows that Xena's success will mean his own death. Toxeus and his band meanwhile celebrate their newfound immortality by hunting Xena in order to capture death for themselves. In the castle of Sisyphus, Toxeus seizes Gabrielle but Xena saves her by freeing Celesta with her chakram. As Celesta passes Toxeus with her flame, he falls dead at her feet. Then, to Gabrielle's horror, Talus follows Celesta toward a blinding light as he bids his friend farewell.
