"To some of us you are a hero - a true Amazon", the Amazon Queen Melosa tells Xena, but it is Gabrielle who unwittingly becomes next in line to the throne after trying to save the queens mortally wounded sister, Terreis. Gabrielle is inducted into the Amazon nation while Xena sets out to free a Centaur falsely accused of Terreis' murder. Aided by a quick-tempered but loyal Amazon named Ephiny, Xena discovers that the real murderer is the warlord Krykus, who hopes to spark a war between the Amazons and the Centaurs in order to steal both their lands. Xena saves the Centaur after defeating Melosa in a spectacular fight, earning the gratitude of an old enemy, the Centaur leader Tyldus. Then, at Xena's urging, Melosa and Tyldus join forces to defeat Krykus, and replace their long hostility with the first steps toward a lasting peace. |
