Ties That Bind: | |||||||||||||||||
Mourning becomes Elektra-with a vengeance, when Xena reconciles with a man claiming to be Atrius, the father who had abandoned her, only to lose him when villagers arrest him for treason. Bargaining for her father's life, Xena saves the village from an invading army by defeating its general, Kirilus, and seizing command of his troops. But on returning to find her father wounded and bound to stake, she threatens a murderous revenge until Gabrielle stops her with an unfamiliar form of reasoning: a blow to the back of the head with a pitchfork handle. Xena recovers her senses and her good sense, forswearing vengeance even after her dying father urges her to strike down those who took him from her. Atrius then reveals his real form as Ares, the god of war, who had plotted to rewaken Xena's bloodlust but whom she now spurns along with her old ways. Take a look at the episode Images... |
