forever - chapter two
"What??" Kian didn't have a clue what he was talking about. "I mean that you died. Last night, in your sleep." It was too much to take in for Kian. He felt as if he was having a bad dream. "This is no dream buddy. You're wide awake!" Kian looked surprised. "Yeah, I can read your mind. So can you if you practise."
Behind them Esther started to cry. Kian turned round to comfort her. "Don't bother kid. She can't see you, she can't hear you..." Kian sat down beside her. "Why can't she? It would help her... look at her."
Victor put his hand on Kian's shoulder. "I know. I have been through the same. And I think that's the reason why you're here. That's the reason why I had to stay at first." "Can you tell me all about this? I really don't have a clue what you're talking about..." "Come with me then!"
Victor took Kian's hand and pulled him out of the room. They were suddenly not in the hall where they were supposed to be but in a large crowded room. Kian saw all sorts of people.
"This is the waiting room. All these peeps you see here will enter today. Quite a calm day..." He looked aside to see Kian's reaction. "What you see here is the place where we all end up sooner or later. You could call it heaven. It's a great place to be really."
Kian looked sceptic. "And what am I doing here?" "I told you already, you're dead. So this could be your new home, but not yet. You've got some unfinished business to do." They left again. "I died... of what?? I feel fine!!"
"Everyone feels fine when they're dead. We don't know pain here so that's one thing you don't have to worry about. And err... Let me think. Oh yeah, you're the one that died of a bleeding in yer brain. Don't ask me what or how though, that's all I was told."
They were back in the living room. "So that... heaven thing is in my hall or what??" "Haha!! It's where ever you want it to be. You can live where ever you like. That's the reward you get for being a good boy all your life. But I put it in your hall just now so that you got an idea of what the place looks like you CAN go to. A lot of ghosts end up living there. But you always have the choice. If you stay down here, fine. Then you just find yourself a nice house and haunt it, no problem."
Kian sunk down on the sofa, trying to understand what he had just heard. He saw Esther again. "I want to stay with her..." "That's the one thing you can't do kiddo. Not yet. When her time's up you two will meet again but for now... You have to let go..." Kian shook his head. "No. I promised I would stay with her forever."
Victor thought about Kian's words for a while. "Maybe you can have the chance to say bye... Let me think about it." Kian got new hopes by those words. "Tell me... how???" "You have to be sure about this." Kian got very impatient by now. "WHAT??" "You have to take her with you. To a place where you both can be..."
Kian didn't understand. "Sometimes, if the love between two people is strong enough to pass the boundaries of death you can contact her. Talk to her, even be with her like you used to. But you have to be sure." Kian smiled. "Of course I'm sure!! It's all I want."
Victor nodded. "I know that. But it might do more harm than good. I've seen it before. 60% of the people that experience this kill themselves right after. And then ..." "What?" "If she does, and there's a great chance, she will be taken to the underworld. That means that you will never see her again. Ever..."
Kian considered the possibility for a while. "I know her, she's not the kind of girl to do that..." But deep down he wasn't sure...
