chapter nineteen
So, there I was on a plane with Bryan, Nicky, Kian, Mark and Steven. Shane was nowhere to be seen.
"Where's Shane?" I asked Nicky, sitting next to me.
"He's where we're going."
"That's helpful. Okay. Tell me, where are we going?"
"To where Shane is waiting for us." He smiled. "I really can't tell you.
Shane made us promise that we wouldn't say so stop asking me please because I find it real hard to keep secrets."
"Okay." I agreed reluctantly.
The flight only took an hour so I knew I was somewhere in Europe. The guys wouldn't let me look out of the window and blindfolded me in the airports. I'm glad I couldn't see the people's faces in the airport, they must have thought Westlife had gone mad. I liked surprises, don't get me wrong, but this was getting a bit extreme.
When we got to the car, I was finally allowed my blindfold off. Nicky was driving and as soon as I looked out of the window I knew exactly where we were.
"Why are we in Ireland?"
"I knew we should have left the blindfold on till we got there." Shane told Nicky.
"Got where?" I asked.
"You'll see. Now just sleep or something because it's gonna take a long time to get there." Shane went back to playing with Steven.
Shane was right, it did take a long time to get there but finally we pulled up outside a restaurant. "Food, great, I'm starving!" Bryan leapt from the car like his bum was on fire.
"Your always hungry, Bryan," I laughed and got out behind him. It felt good to finally be able to stretch my legs. "But then again, I'm starving too. Let's eat."
"Sarah, can I speak to you for a sec?" Shane beckoned me over towards him.
"Sure, what's up?"
"Well, the reason we're here is..." he paused. "Is so you can meet my parents and so they can finally see Steven. They own the cafe you see."
"Oh," I suddenly felt nervous and totally shocked. That was the last thing I expected. We'd never spoken about me or Steven meeting his parents before, but I realised that I did want to see them. "Well, let's go meet them then."
"You sure," I think he was shocked that I took the surprise so well.
"Yep, of course. It's about time Steven had some sort of Grandparents."
My mum and dad had died in an explosion when I was 16 but that's another story.
