if I let you go (2)

chapter four

"Would you like some tea, coffee, something cold to drink?" Rachel walked into the kitchen.
"Um, tea please."
"Okay, just sit down anywhere, I'll be through in a sec."
Shane sat down and noticed the CDs from the music store. He picked them up but before seeing the Westlife one, Rachel came through again.
"Oh, excuse the taste in CD's, can't help myself sometimes." She sat down opposite him, smiling. "So, you still haven't told me your name yet."
"Shane. Shane Filan."
"Well, Mr. Filan, I guess I owe you my life at the moment. Without my briefcase, I would've died."
"Please, call me Shane. Like I said, I would've brought it round earlier but I was late for an important meeting."
Shane and Rachel talked into the early hours of the next morning, like old friends. They found they had common interests like horses, music and performing although Shane never once mentioned Westlife. At around 1:30am, Shane went to the bathroom. When he came back, Rachel was asleep on the sofa. He crouched down next to her and gently moved the hair covering her face. He pulled a blanket over her and went to kiss her cheek but she moved and kissed her on the mouth. Rachel reacted and kissed him back, slowly and softly. Eventually they pulled away and both felt embarrassed. Rachel got up and went into the kitchen, her head was spinning, she'd never felt like this before, and didn't know what to do. Shane stayed in the lounge, confused and dazed. He wanted it to happen, but now it had, what next? He didn't know whether to follow her and kiss her again, or leave it and let her walk out of his life forever. He saw her standing in the doorway. Rachel had her hand covering her mouth and looked so vulnerable. Shane just wanted to reach out and hold her, kiss her. Kiss the beautiful mouth she was hiding. He stood up and walked towards her, took her in his arms and kissed her and then made love to her there on the floor.
