chapter ten
Sitting in the back of a black cab, heading for the hotel Bryan was staying at, Sarah's nerves overtook her, she shivered and shook and was basically a complete state.
Bryan was very quiet too, they had barely spoken to each other in the club. Bryan had suggested they go back to the hotel where he could guarantee some peace and quiet.
Sherry had taken Sarah aside and had a serious discussion with her over whether she should go with a complete stranger, but all Sarah could say was that she knew no harm would come to her. Sarah thought Sherry would laugh if Sarah told her about the dreams. Sherry had given Sarah her mobile phone and told her to ring her if she needed help. She still wasn't convinced though.
Bryan had introduced her to Shane and she was now ever so slightly distracted from what was happening to her friend. Sherry had conveniently forgotten about her boyfriend and was having a great time, dancing around with Shane and the other lads who were trying to convince her that Bryan was a decent lad.
Sarah was sitting right next to the window, up close. Bryan was the same on the other side of the seat. Bryan didn't want to frighten her and Sarah didn't want Bryan to think she was a complete nut.
Every few seconds they would turn and glance at each other. A quick smile and they'd turn their heads back to the window and gaze out again. Bryan hadn't been really shy with girls since he was much younger and was surprised at the complete lack of conversation between the two of them.
Sarah was naturally shy and this was nothing different to how she'd normally be with a bloke she liked. Only of course this was incredibly different but because of other reasons.
The car stopped outside the hotel and Bryan leapt out to open the door for Sarah. Sarah was impressed, she'd never known a bloke to open a door for her before. Except her dad of course.
They walked into the hotel and were bombarded with photographers flashing their cameras in Bryan and Sarah's faces. They had appeared from nowhere but were quickly removed from the premises by the hotel security. "Sorry about that Mr McFadden" one said apologetically, "They must have sneaked in, we didn't see them".
Bryan reassured them it was quite alright and he was used to it. He and Sarah were then ushered up to Bryan's room by a guard, so it hopefully wouldn't happen again.
Once inside the room, Bryan signalled to Sarah that she could sit in his living room section of the room. Sarah sat down on the huge, comfy sofa in front of the open fire.
She watched Bryan nervously pace the room, pretending he was trying to do something. But it was apparent that as well as Sarah not knowing what he was doing, neither did he. He looked across at Sarah and she smiled knowingly, he eventually sat down next to her after a couple of moments.
"I wouldn't normally do this.." he started. Sarah interrupted "I know". She smiled "We have to talk". Bryan nodded and began, "You...me...I mean.." he stammered.
Sarah placed her hand on his to relax him, "Go slowly, you don't need to rush." Bryan smiled back, she really was perfect. She had him under her control by just looking at him.
"Do you want me to start?" she asked. Bryan nodded, he didn't want to be the one to start the conversation especially if it'd all been in his head. That nagging doubt was slowly starting to disappear though.
"Shall we start at the beginning?" Sarah asked, again Bryan nodded. "I had a dream..."she began, before Bryan sniggered. "That's like our new single!" he laughed. Sarah smiled and sighed, he was obviously very nervous. "Sorry!" he quickly shut up and asked her to continue. "..when I was about 15." she continued.
Bryan was shocked, his had only started a few months before. Sarah carried on telling him all about her dreams and how they'd developed over the years. Bryan couldn't quite believe it, as expected they were practically the same as his.
"I really thought you were going to say something completely different and that you'd think I was barmy" Bryan told her. "You had them too, didn't you?" Sarah asked him, he nodded. "What do you think it means?" he asked after a few minutes of them smiling at each other, relieved that they weren't insane. Sarah shrugged.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Bryan went over and opened it. Standing in the doorway was Louis Walsh, the group's manager. He was frowning and proceeded to walk in, without being invited. He saw Sarah sitting on the sofa and nodded at her to show her he'd acknowledged her existence, not even trying to smile.
He sat down in another chair opposite, while Bryan returned to his seat next to Sarah. "We need to talk..." Louis told him, he stared straight at Sarah as if he was trying to make her disappear just by looking at her.
Bryan noticed and ignored him. He'd finally found her and not even Louis, who he owed a great deal, to was going to get rid of her. "alone" Louis continued.
Bryan turned to Sarah, "Do you mind waiting in the other room?" signalling with his head towards his bedroom, not realising what he'd applied or what Louis or Sarah were now thinking.
Sarah smirked and was just about to say 'no she didn't mind' but Louis interrupted, "Bryan, we're going to be talking for quite a while, maybe you should see...?". He looked over at Sarah and asked with his eyes what her name was. "Sarah" she replied. "..Sarah, another day?" Louis continued.
He was starting to look impatient and Bryan didn't want to get him angry. "Just a second, be with you in a minute" he told Louis who simply nodded and opened his briefcase to reveal a load of papers. "I'm just going to call her a taxi" he continued. He picked up the phone and asked the desk to call a taxi for him. They told him it wouldn't be long and Bryan told them Sarah would be down shortly. After doing this Bryan helped Sarah up and took her into his bedroom.
"We need to swap addresses and phone numbers and stuff" he told her. Sarah nodded and rummaged through her pockets, trying to find a scrap of paper. All she could find was an old receipt. She quickly scribbled her address and phone number on the back and gave it to Bryan.
He meanwhile had been searching his room, also for some paper. He too had found a small scrap and had written his details down too. As they swapped pieces of paper, Bryan couldn't stop himself from leaning in towards Sarah, she didn't stop him.
He closed his eyes and so did she. He gently kissed her mouth, she kissed back. He placed his hands on her waist but eventually he moved them up and gently ran his fingers through her hair. She held his face between her hands and fell in love with their passionate embrace. They moved apart and smiled at each other. Louis coughed from the other room, making his presence known, making sure they hadn't forgotten him.
Sarah moved her hand to put the paper in her pocket. She tried to shove it in and thought she had. She didn't notice it dropping to the floor after she had moved her hand back into Bryan's. Bryan led her to the door past Louis, who they both completely ignored. Sarah waved goodbye at the door, as Bryan shut it smiling at her as he did. He waved too, before it was finally shut.
Louis was staring at him, "You don't have time for girls" he told him sternly. "Well I'll have to make time then!" Bryan replied as he sat down opposite Louis, smiling like a Cheshire cat. "It's about this show you're doing tomorrow.." Louis started.
Sarah lay in bed and stared up at her ceiling at the sky she'd painted on it when she moved in. It was very relaxing and she smiled to herself, knowing she would never get to sleep that night, she was way too excited.
Bryan was the same. He lay in his huge four poster bed smiling to himself. The lads had all come in and demanded as much information as possible on what had happened. Bryan had however kept completely silent, annoying them immensely. He gazed over at the sideboard across from his bed where he'd put Sarah's address and stuff on top of. He turned over and began to drift off to sleep, to his great surprise.
Next morning Bryan awoke to the sound of a vacuum cleaner in his room. He got up out of bed and went into the living room area, smiling at the cleaning lady as he sat down on the sofa. She smiled back and switched off the vacuum cleaner. After wrapping up the wire and gathering all her other cleaning equipment, she left the room.
Bryan sighed to himself, it was such a beautiful morning. He decided he wanted to call Sarah and make sure he was the first person she spoke to that morning. He went back to his bedroom and walked over to the sideboard.
From afar he started to get worried. He couldn't see the paper. Once up close he could clearly see that it was gone. He searched the room in a desperate panic from floor to ceiling.
He eventually crawled under the bed and to his complete dismay discovered the piece of paper he had given Sarah the night before. "She must have dropped it!" he thought to himself angrily. He tried to get up and forgot he was under the bed and banged his head.
