Life of Bryan

chapter eleven

Sarah awoke to a loud banging noise. Outside her house, Sherry was banging hard on the door. Sarah jumped out of bed and while wrapping her dressing gown around her cold body she ran down the stairs yelling "Wait a minute! I'm coming". She opened the door and Sherry smiled sweetly, her hand still held up in banging on the door mode. She put it down by her side and invited herself in.

Bryan sat on the edge of his bed, his head in his hands. He was so frustrated. The other lads were sitting with him in his room after a long and lengthy search which had amounted to nothing.

"One of us must have kicked the address under the bed and I don't know where the other one went?" Bryan repeated for the tenth time. "You said the cleaner was in here right?" asked Nicky, Bryan nodded, "Well why don't you try and find her, see if she moved it?" was his reply. "Nah" replied Bryan "It's probably been sucked up by the vacuum cleaner!".

Mark was starting to get peeved again "Listen to yourself" he said gruffly "She knows your here right?", to which again Bryan nodded, "Well as soon as she works out she's lost her piece of paper she'll try and contact here, won't she?! That is unless she's as gormless as you!".

Bryan ignored his mean comment and thought about what he'd said before it. "By jove Holmes you've got it!" he joked starting to cheer up. "Why don't you leave a message at the desk?" Shane suggested. "Good idea" Bryan patted his shoulder and started to write one out when suddenly the phone rang. "Get that will you" Bryan asked Kian who was closest to the phone.

Kian answered the phone and after a few moments put it down looking considerably gloomy. "What's the matter?" asked Nicky. "The show's been cancelled, the presenter's just been arrested and they reckon the show's going to be scrapped!" Kian told them. Bryan smirked "Idiot! What did he do?". "Dunno" replied Kian "but it means we're going back to Ireland!". Bryan collapsed on the bed "perfect!" he said sarcastically "just perfect!".

Sarah was rummaging through her coat pockets in the hallway. "It's got to be in here!" she told herself. Sherry tried to help but Sarah shoved the jacket away and sat down on the stairs, her head in her hands. "It must have fallen out!" she told Sherry "Oh God! This is just my luck!".

Sherry sighed and leaned against the banister. "Where was he staying?" she asked a smile appearing on her face. Sarah slowly raised her head from her hands and smiled to herself. She pulled her dressing gown around her and ran up the stairs as fast as she could so that she could get dressed as quickly as possible.

Bryan and the others stood at the departure lounge at Gatwick airport. Bryan was last in line as they went through the doors. He sighed and handed the boarding inspector his plane ticket as he walked through the door and it was closed behind him.

Sarah and Sherry drove to the hotel and rushed inside after parking Sherry's car. They rushed up to the desk and waited impatiently behind a large red faced man who was moaning about the elevators taking too long to get to the top floor. Finally he left, the woman at the desk sighed and turned to Sarah and Sherry and smiled, relieved.

"I was here last night, with a Mr McFadden" Sarah told her. Sherry butted in "Is he here?". The desk disappeared under the desk. Sarah and Sherry looked at each other, puzzled. The lady suddenly appeared again with a piece of paper in her hand.

"What's Your name?" she asked. Sarah told her. "That's correct" replied the lady as she handed Sarah the piece of paper and then proceeded to walk away from the desk. "I know" Sarah mumbled at her as she went.

Sarah opened the folded piece of paper. There was his address, his phone number, everything. She sighed with relief. But there was more, he'd written a message too. It read;

Dear Sarah,
We've had to leave due to circumstances beyond my control. I didn't want to go but like I said it wasn't up to me. I've gone home to Artane in Dublin. I don't want to loose contact with you and I hope we can see each other soon. I miss you already!
all my love
Bryan

Sarah sighed "he's gone" she told Sherry. Sherry put her arm around her sympathetically. Sarah pushed it away, "Don't worry!" she laughed "I think I'm going to have to go to Dublin!".
