chapter four
Sarah lay in bed next to Bryan, wondering how her father would react knowing she was with him. She gazed over at him asleep next to her, his mouth smiling as he rested. He was clinging to her tightly as he slept and she stroked his hand which was resting on her stomach. He had strong hands, which comforted Sarah as he held her.
They had met that night on the grounds of Windslow House, her home. Sarah's father was throwing a grand ball and Sarah did not find the idea of spending an evening with her father and his cronies pleasurable in the least. She'd met Bryan in his work hut on the grounds in Mindlea Wood.
The walls of Bryan's humble abode were bare and damp and the corners of the only room in his small house, which was also bedroom, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and living room all in one, had spider webs that had been beautifully spun from wall to wall across them.
Sarah stared up at the beamed ceiling as Bryan began to wake. He slowly opened his eyes and saw his lover next to him. He watched her with amazement at her beauty and comfort at her being so close to him. She turned and smiled at him. He reached up and ran his fingers through her hair. It was silky and smooth. He leaned towards her while gently moving her face towards his. He kissed her lips, then her cheek, then her neck. Sarah closed her eyes and smiled to herself, enjoying this intensely passionate and pleasurable moment. Suddenly there was a loud bang and Sarah awoke.
Her journey home had been tiring and she'd fallen asleep in the car after parking it outside her house. Her next door neighbour was tapping on the windscreen, Sarah thanked her and she left. It was late at night, about midnight. Sarah groaned as she stretched. She had a pain in her back and neck now for sleeping in such an uncomfortable position. She got out of the car and went into her house and straight to bed, not even changing first. She fell asleep immediately.
Bryan had been sleeping on the plane too as he'd been exhausted after all the groups promotional work and the plane was taking longer than he'd expected due to bad weather. He'd had the same dream and was very confused as although he knew he was asleep in the dream, he was awarer of what the girl was thinking and her thoughts and feelings as well as watching what was happening from the other side of the room.
His previous dreams with her in them had been vivid, plenty and often. In all of them they'd always been alone, just the two of them. They'd never spoken, though they were always lovingly intimate. Bryan however didn't like the ending to this one, he could tell that his dreams of her were to come to an end. The way the last one ended made him sense it, there was so much pain and sorrow in his mind after it though he couldn't tell why.
He was sitting next to Shane on the plane, who was reading a newspaper. The others were asleep. Bryan knew Shane was the only one who truly wanted to believe him about the dreams. He didn't, but Bryan knew he was trying the hardest to. He turned to him "Shane?". Shane looked up from his paper "What?".
"You don't have to worry about me and those dreams anymore" Bryan told him. "Why?" answered Shane. "Cos they're finished, I'm not going to have them anymore". Shane was confused "How'd you know?" he asked. "I just do" replied Bryan as he turned and gazed out at the windows at the clouds, missing her dreadfully already. Shane sighed as he put on his headphones "That's a shame!", he replied as he pressed the play button on his personal stereo. Bryan's head spun around in surprise.
