chapter nine
Dressed in skimpy outfits, flaunting their freezing bodies down the street, dozens of girls were getting on and off the tube at Leicester Square underground station. Not afraid of showing a bit of skin, Sherry had joined in. Sarah was modestly covered, not wanting to give the wrong impression to anyone.
Bryan and the other lads were also in Leicester Square, in a club. Bryan wasn't enjoying himself at all. It was hard going out, especially if he went with the others as they were always recognised wherever they went as a group. Apart, they had a fair chance of remaining anonymous but three blonde men together spelt out boyband in Bryan's book.
He sat at the member's bar in the club, the club's name was 'The Ivy'. There weren't many people in the member's bar and Bryan liked it that way. It was a surprise to the other lads as usually it had been Bryan dragging them onto the dance floor. Only now, Bryan refused to budge. "I want some peace and quiet!" Bryan told them "I didn't want to come out, you made me. So let me be, I came didn't I?!".
They left him alone at the bar and went down to the dance floor for a good old boogie. "Everyone has their bad days" Kian thought, "He's just stressed, what with all the time away from home" thought Shane, "He'll be back to his normal self in a couple of days, maybe he's poorly?" thought Nicky, "What is wrong with him?" thought Mark.
Sherry and Sarah entered 'The Ivy' nightclub. Sherry's boyfriend Jon had recommended it. His brother Zac worked there. Sherry and Sarah had gotten into the club fairly easily as although it was an exclusive and very popular club, Zac had pulled some strings and got them in easy.
Sherry headed straight for the dance floor while Sarah sat down at a table by herself. Bryan was only a few feet away in the member's bar but didn't notice her.
Sherry danced madly for ages before plonking down at the table where Sarah was. "Get us a drink will you please?" she asked Sarah. "What of?" Sarah replied. "I don't know, something wet!" was Sherry's reply.
Sarah laughed as she headed towards the bar. Once she'd got there, she ordered her drinks and was told to wait a while as there was a long queue. She sat down on a barstool and waved to Sherry, mouthing she'd only be a minute. Sherry nodded and headed back to the dance floor, grabbing the nearest hunky bloke she could find as she went. She sang loudly along with the music, and caught a lot of people's attention with her lack of knowledge of the lyrics. But she wouldn't let a thing like that, stop her, oh no!
Bryan's attention was caught by Sherry's singing and he looked over at the dance floor to see who was making such a din. To his surprise there she was, Sarah sitting only a few centimetres away from him.
Bryan blinked his eyes in disbelief and shock. She was REALLY there! Reflected in a mirror opposite the bar, he could see her, also watching the dance floor. "Sarah!" he said without realising he'd said it out loud. Sarah turned, not recognising the voice.
Bryan waited with anticipation as she turned to face him, he had goose bumps everywhere. Sarah gazed through the other people in between them and saw Bryan looking at her, smiling.
The shock at seeing him made her jump and she fell off her stool. Bryan rushed to her aid and helped her up. Sarah was extremely embarrassed and couldn't look him in the face. "Are you alright?" he asked thoughtfully.
Kian gazed over to check Bryan was alright by himself and instead saw him helping to pick up a girl who for some reason was sitting on the floor. He smirked to himself and grabbed the back of Shane's collar, who was dancing away madly. "Looks like Bryan's finally got over that dream girl thing!" he told him. "No?" replied Shane, standing on tiptoe to see what was going on.
Sarah sat back on her stool and Bryan sat down on the stool next to her. He watched her as she tried to straighten herself up. She'd pulled a dish of peanuts onto the floor with her and was now covered in salt.
"Are you alright?" Bryan asked, she was real and she was beautiful. And she was sitting right in front of him. Sarah finally looked up at him. They stared into each others eyes until she finally mumbled shyly "yes, thank you".
Bryan opened his mouth to ask her about what had happened, who she was, had she dreamt it all too, but he couldn't get the words out. Sarah tried too and failed.
"Let's introduce ourselves, we can start there" suggested Bryan, clearly seeing Sarah was as speechless as he was "I'm Bryan". He held out his hand for her to shake. She took it and replied "I know, I'm Sarah". Bryan smiled "I know".
