open your heart

chapter two

When I woke up again I didn't have a clue where I was. After a while I located it as being an ambulance. And after some thought I remembered what had happened. I listened, at least we weren't moving. It didn't take long until a woman came into the ambulance. "Hi, how do you feel?", she was obviously a nurse or something. "Ummm, I'm fine!" I said, well, OK, of course that wasn't really the thrush, my side where hurting from being squashed to the fence, but apart from that, I WAS fine. I sat up, and hoped no one would realise that I was in pain. It wasn't bad anyway, just a little bit, nothing major. The woman got me a glass of water, "Here, I'll take you outside."

On our way outside, someone shouting "Hey, wait!" stopped us. Turning around I came to the realisation that Shane was hurrying over in our direction. "Are you OK?", he asked as he reached us, and leaning forward, whispering, he added "just pretend that you know me..." "Uh, yeah, I'm fine..." I said, really not knowing what I should do. Shane looked at the woman who was looking at us in surprise, "I'll take care of her if it's OK?" The woman nodded, "But if..." I don't think either Shane or me heard the rest of the sentence, cos by this time we were just soaking in each other's eyes. Realising that we weren't listening anyway, the woman just sighted and walked away.

We were left there alone, quiet. Finally Shane slowly and softly removed a stray piece of hair from my face. The touch of his fingertips sent shivers down my spine. By this time, he was looking at me intensely... "Did you think about what I said before...?" I looked up at him, so he meant it then. "Umm... yeah" I said, being honest. "And...?" "And... I do think I feel the same...." I said, wondering if he'd really believe me, I was a fan after all. He obviously did believe me cos he drew me closer. And I came to the realisation that I did feel the same, so, I'd always liked Shane, but it wasn't until that moment I realised that it wasn't just an obsession, I really did love him. At that thought, I placed my head on his chest, and he answered by drawing me even closer, placing his chin on my shoulder.

We stood like that for a while, and I suddenly felt Shane shivering. Looking up, I saw his eyes were misty. "What's wrong?" He just smiled at me, "Nothing is wrong," he stated, "believe me, nothing is wrong... it's just that you just made me the happiest man on earth!" I smiled nervously. No one had ever paid me a compliment like that before, and I felt embarrassed, just didn't know how I should take it, I looked down at my feet. Shane softly placed his hand under my chin and turned my face up again. We soaked in each other's eyes as he slowly leaned over...
