chapter five
I stopped again. I just wanted to turn around and go home... too late, Shane saw me and came rushing over in my direction. "Hello!" he said, giving me a big hug. I was unable to say anything, I was just relieved that he'd seen me before I did something I didn't really want to do. He slowly let go of me and took my hand, "Come on," he said, leading me in direction of the others.
When we reached them, he started to introduce us, "This is Nikki... and... well" he pointed at Mark, looked at me and smiled "as you know this is Mark, and-" he didn't get any further cos at that moment Marks girlfriend, who'd been standing quiet, interrupted him, "Hello Nikki!" giving me a friendly hug. "Hiya... Mammy!" I answered, and the two of us erupted in fits of giggles. Mark and Shane was left standing there, looking like two question marks! Mark finally got back on track, "So, you -" "Surprise!" the two of us said in unison, interrupting him. "Lorraine, what IS going on here?" Shane asked Marks girlfriend. "Nikki is on the same mailing-lists as me...." she started, and I continued, "... and we're snail-mail pals!" "But why didn't..." Mark started, but the two off us didn't hear, cos we were talking of something completely different.
...half an hour later...
"Where is Kian gone to?" Shane said with a sigh, worried that his friend should miss the train if he didn't come soon. Just at that moment, a blonde guy, with blue eyes, and a cheeky grin approached us. "Sorry I'm late..." he said, trying to catch his breath as he had obviously been running. "It's Ok," Shane said, "Kian, this is Nikki." "Hello..." I said, for some reason I suddenly got all shy. Shane seemed to realise, "Come here," he said softly, sitting down and sweeping me into his lap. "Are you alright?" he asked, looking deeply into my eyes. "Yeah..." I said, faintly, this was just too good to be true...
I don't know for how long we were sitting like that, but Kian eventually got us back to reality again. "Hey, I'm sorry, but the train will arrive any minute now, you've got to let go of each other." I looked up and blushed. "Yeah, right..." Shane said, and let go of me, he didn't seem bothered at all by the fact that we had loads of people looking over in our direction. In the back of my mind I wondered if anyone recognised the lads, in that case, would there be loads of rumours going about this? Just then, Shane placed his arm around me, and I didn't care anymore. Didn't care what anyone else thought, I just wanted to be with Shane...
